Congratulations Lynn. There's nothing quite like finishing your very first quilt - thank you for sharing it with us. We do Happy Dances for finished quilts ( and shorter happy dances for finished stage!! - we enjoy dancing). So I'm tapping a few toes for you here, on a beautiful autumnal morning. . Lynn, good for you. I still remember the feeling of the first! Don't get frustrated. You actually can make a quilt in a weekend, I've done it. I taken several classes that make the top in one sitting. Of course, you already know what pattern you're using, you already know how much fabric you need, you've already purchased and washed said fabric, and you go to class ready to go. You are secure in a room with no phones, no kids, no hubbies or SO, no TVs, no computers (ouch, that one really hurts!), no housework, no doorbells ringing. You are barely sane when you leave this room but you can go home with a completed quilt top.

Now, having said that, guess what I am doing today? That's right! Just got invited to a very-quickly-planned bridal shower for next friday! Guess what I'm making? But then, it should be a snap, I have 6 days!

Post pix if you can, we'd love to ooh and ahh over your work. Get a disposable camera and keep it in your quilt area. Take pix of everything you do. You'll be amazed how your work evolves! Keep us posted on your next project.

Well done Lynn! I too did a weekend project that took ages - I think more than 2 weeks! Do we get to see photos?

Ah Butterfly It is a dying art! However, choose your favourite opera or ballet tune and off you go: keep your heels on the ground, to give full range of movement to the toes. I'm doing the Toreador song from Carmen, now, as an example. See? L-L-R-LL, LR - LR- L-. It's easy >g< . In article , Butterfly writes

Hi all,

Many thanks for your Happy Dances, I could feel the vibrations w--a--y over here. :-) I've been feeling a bit twitchy and quite bereft, having finished, and not quite believing it! Am now going to make up the third Amish Basket block and then decide whether to go for broke and make another 3 x 21"blocks with a huge one for centre so making up another quilt, or have the 3 joined together as a backing against the wall behind my bed. The last 24hrs have been filled with the delicious aromas of roasting chicken and wicked dark chocolate cake, so am catching up with calories. Rang a friend last night, and was greeted with Hello, do I know you?' Apparently we hadn't spoken for a fortnight (?) and he was very worried that I may have decided to 'take up' knitting again, with the same hideous results (and dreadful language) of

10 years ago, so was much relieved to hear I was quilting instead!! He used the words: 'Obsessive, compulsive, driven' all totally out of context, I thought :-) Lynn
