Hi Guys, I am soooooo excited because I just got my new Hancock's of Paducah catalogue and have ordered PIRATE fabric! Raechel -- the SMDGD -- thinks she is a Pirate! She loves Captain Jack Sparrow and was absolutely thrilled when she saw him and had her photo taken with him when we were at Disneyland. DD has both Pirates of the Caribbean movies and R watches them all the time. When we first hit D'land, we went to the shops on Main Street and R had to have black Mickey Pirate ears -- complete with red bandanna printed with skull & cross bones, embroidered with a skull & cross bones at center front & tied on the side, her name embroidered on the back AND a gold earring in one of the ears -- LOLOL! They had the hat part in pink with pink & black bandanna for girls but R had to have the black & red. She spied a pair of Pirates of the Caribbean shoes at Target and used her birthday money to buy them. DD found some black & red shiny shoelaces for them in the hopes that the little boys at daycare won't give R grief for wearing boys shoes. This is the reason I am so thrilled to have found the Pirate fabric. One of the pirates even looks a bit like Capt'n Jack. I also bought some of the Jolly Roger printed fabric -- black ground with skull & cross bones and a bandanna on the skull. I will make R a sun dress to go with the shoes. I'll make a narrow, straight yoke and tie straps plus a pair of bloomers out of the Jolly Roger fabric. For the skirt of the dress, I will loosely gather the Pirate fabric to the yoke so that you can get a really good look at the pirate that looks like Capt'n Jack. Once I have finished, I will have lots of leftovers to be used on her b-day quilt for next year -- assuming she still likes Pirates. I wanted to be sure to mention the Pirate fabric for those who are partial to that sort of thing :-)! CiaoMeow >^;;^<
