Re: The treadle cometh...

Err... NOT the shed! It is a very good place for keeping the DH busy, however!

There is a very ugly table holding up a telephone in the dining room that might easily be replaced. And a stack of plastic boxes I need to find a better home for than my posh new dining room /kitchen combo!

Shame on Cathy for not wanting a treadle machine! Shame, shame, shame! And of course if you can't fit it in, well, you know what to do - send it to me!

Sharon, there have been a few on ebay recently but they go around the $400 mark. A few featherweights have been advertised as well, they are so cute. This morning I saw I loverly quilt top that was $22.50 and needed some mending, tempting!!

I have my own treadle coming when my DGM passes away (not a moment I am wishing for let me tell you). It is the one I learned on when I was 3/4/5 - nan did the sewing and I helped to treadle! I tried to con Wayne into buying me another SM when Gerty went to be mended but he said "We don't have room for 3 machines!" Yeah - we have room for a whole Bunnings worth of tools but not 3 machines! Sheesh.

Actually I could lend you floor space in Hampshire if you like ??? LOL Just moved Luke ( 9 1/2) months into the now known as the boys room the other night) Now we have a whopping great empty part of our bedroom. I am enjoying going to bed and actually able to have the light on to read before going to sleep :o)

We live in a protected area and cannot break the roof line - can't even put Velux windows in the front! The back already has the lean-to conservatory/laundry room (badly in need of some TLC), and the sides are joined on to the other houses in the terrace. I spoze we could dig a cellar... Got any 18th C French POW's? They dug excellent tunnels through the chalk in Chatham...

Oh, I can't play that game! If we stacked all DH's tools and wood in a neat tidy heap, and stacked all my sewing stuff next to it, I would definitely have the bigger heap! I already have 4 machines: the Lily, the serger, the Spinning Jenny, and my non working FR Cub 8.

Dunno what type it is yet, other than Singer! Part of the fun will be finding out...

Silly man! To paraphrase a popular US advertising slogan.....There's always room for a treadle.

Dee (green with envy) >

If I throw out the exercise bike, we'll have nowhere to han our clothes!

I broke the news gently... He protested there was no room, but I will shoehorn it in somewhere!
