Real wool batting

I am getting ready to do a quilt with real wool batting. Is there anyone out there that has ever used wool? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Are you able to wash it?

I've used the Hobbs wool -- nice to quilt, looks good, washes great. :)

Love it! Needles beatifully. Nice moderate loft, lightweight, and oh-so-warm! Well worth the splurge. Renee

How does "like quilting through warm chocolate" strike you then? Diana

ok then, its like quilting a cloud that's still in the air....no effort and no work to it there. ummm just one thing, if you happen to be heavy handed you may want to wear a leather thimble on your under-quilt hand....I stick myself a lot when there's no resistance....its like subconsciously you expect the resistance, then there is none and you are still going as if there is....size 12 needles and a heavy hand....not a good combo in that case. All and all, that batting makes you realize what quilting is all about. It calls your name while you are sleep requesting that you needle it a few more hours. While doing other stuff its whispering to you "and when you are done with that, I'm over here waiting" and by the time you are done, you have already planned the next project you will be making out of it. peepla
