Red, White, and Black

Our third grandchild will graduate this year, and I've made a quilt for each of them. I asked her what colors she wanted, and since her high school colors and her college colors and the cover of her favorite book are all red, white, and black - yep, that's what she wanted. Pics of the finished quilt can be seen here if you'd like to take a look:

That is stunning. I really like the contrast. She is a very lucky young lady.

I didn't mention how terrific I think your choices in fabric are. I could not, would not even begin to attempt to piece just plain black, white and red. My favorite is the snow on the black; that's really, really Good. Takes it from 'expected' to delightful. Polly

When I think of a red, white & black quilt, I imagine a very bright & almost startling combination. Your quilt is is not like that at all. Instead I was pleasantly surprised to see a very pretty, and classy looking quilt. Good work!

Love your latest creation but while I was at your site I took a look at your other quilts. M's quilt especially caught my eye. Even more than D's quilt and Hawheyes which are of course the same pattern. I need to do a miniature in fabrics other than my usual 1800's. I think this pattern made in 3" blocks with Asian fabrics would be great. I must study the scale of my Asian fabrics and see which would look good cut into 3" squares. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

Louise, I love red, white and black. Your quilt is outstanding. Did one not long ago myself. I didn't realize the pattern was such a small WH when I bought it. But it worked out just the same. I gave it to DH for his office. He's head of security for our local prep school and it's their colors. Would have kept it in the house had it been larger. I'm sure there are more of this color combo in my future

- just not sure when.
