'Splain to us how that works, keeping in mind that some of us don't know LDS from LSD. I've just gotten comfortable with the VCR and understand it's already going by the wayside. Polly

It appears there will be a membership "access only" to some of the features on the site. (I'm thinking it will probably be almost all the features.) You can sign in now for free and read the blogs that explain a bit about the new show. It's an interesting concept and I'll be watching to see how it's received. KJ

Well, Carole, there's laugh or cry. I still haven't learned how to retrieve the messages on the phone. I have, however, mastered the art of taking great pictures of my thumb. Polly

Hhmmmm - did I miss something along the way?

I thought from earlier blurbs about the show it was RT's show with a co-host. The previews all say ALEX and Ricky, with Alex getting first billing. I liked Simply Quilts just fine (when it was available to me, which wasn't all the time) but I was looking forward to a show hosted by Ricky Tims (he's fun!).

So who hijacked who here?

Anyone know how many episodes a year they will make and if past episodes will be kept available? I know there's a FAQ page, but I am having SERIOUS connection problems ATM. Help appreciated if I can avoid having to go look.

Cheryl, the info Ricky gave at Houston was that there will be 13 episodes in a year. The first episode will be available "free", to everyone. Every episode will be available after they run, until the end of the year. After the episodes are removed from the site they will be available on a DVD, members can pre-order the DVD if they wish. Cost was supposed to be about equivalent to the cost of a one year magazine subscription, and that looks about right.

Remember, you must have a fast connection to view the shows on line. They cannot be downloaded. IF you have dial up you probably can't view the shows, but will be able to buy the DVD at the end of the year.

I suspect that Ricky is just being a Southern gentleman and putting Alex's name first. I, too, was looking forward to the "Ricky" show...I adore him! I hope it's a lot of Ricky with some Alex. Here are some "exerpts" from the website FAQ's.

----------------------------------------------- How long will my membership last? Each membership lasts while episodes of a series are posted. A series is 13 episodes! The first series will post regularly from April 1 - December 31,

2007. However, each episode will remain posted for one year and your membership will allow you to watch episodes in that series until the last episode of that series retires from the web. That's the long answer! The short answer is, if you join anytime this year, you're membership will last until Dec 31, 2008 -yes, we said, 2008! Your first Profile Star will indicate that you have access to those first thirteen shows. Having said that - if you decide to purchase series two, when it becomes available, you'll get a second Profile Star indicating that you have access to all the shows in Series Two. That series will overlap the previous series, and will extend your membership until the last episode of that series retires from the website - sometime in mid-2009. Since the series overlap, you'll always have full access to everything we offer unless you don't purchase the next series of shows. Here's a good way to look at it - you are not paying for a specific length of time - like a month or a year. You are purchasing a package and so the length of time that your membership lasts (for that series) depends on when you join. At a minimum, your package price will give you one full year of The Quilt Show enjoyment! What do Star Members get that Basic Members don't get? We want a HUGE world-wide quilt community and we are proud to offer the world's first full-service site of its kind. Basic members have access to Chat, Blog, Forum and other features. They cannot use our powerful Search Engine and find other members, shops, shows, teachers, or quilts. Nor can they watch episodes of The Quilt Show. We are happy to offer a wide range of free services for quilters and hope that Basic Members will realize the value of Upgrading to Star Member status.

What are all these Stars? Members purchasing the Series One episodes between January 1 and April 2,

2007, are considered our Charter Members. After our first show posts in April, members will never again have the opportunity to have a Gold Star. In the future if you see a gold star on anyones profile, you'll know they were with us at the start! Currently, if you purchase the Gold Star Member Package, you'll also get your First Series Star - it is a bluish-purple star. You'll get another star for each subsequent Series you purchase. It won't be long before your profile might have several stars.
