Rotary blade sharpeners?

I'm wondering...how well do rotary blade sharpeners really work? I'm thinking of buying one, but don't want to purchase something that doesn't work well. I've got knife that were a waste of money. Thanks for your help!

My reply from discussion of Aug.8 when same question was asked:

" Are you asking about the new orbital sharpener or the tri-sharp one that has been on the market for several years? I have used the tri- sharp 45mm one to prolong the life of rotary blades - I usually wait until I have several to sharpen and do them altogether - labelled 'as sharpened' in a container. I also stocked up on the refill disks whenever I saw a good price on them - it is getting difficult to find a supply of them now - I am still looking for a supplier of the 28mm size refill disks. As for actually having to change the sharpening disk for a fresh refill - that hasn't happened yet - it has lasted for a very long time. The orbital sharpener uses a diamond grit sharpening wheel (fine or coarse) and replacement ones are sold separately (about $10) or in a pack of both grits (about $16). The orbital costs approx twice as much as the tri-sharp but it does accommodate both the 45mm and the 60mm sized blades - they are also working on a 18mm and 18mm combined sharpener size. I can't comment on how well the orbital sharpener works on renewing a blade but considering how well a diamond grit nail file works and how long they last - I'd say that the extra cost would be worth it in the long run." jennellh

Thanks Jennell! My apologies for being redundant. I don't get to read the group as often as I'd like.
