S.E.A. Quilt Shop in Gulf Shores AL

Oh my, EP, that sounds so wonderful. I'd like just now to be the one with a SM facing the gulf running bobbins and putting in sharp new needles. We just must jar Kate T loose from west Mississippi and put together a fun trip together. Is this the year that the sweet quilters in Pensacola do a quilt show? Polly

That was me asking. Thank you so much for letting me know they are still open. YEA.

Should Polly, you and I rent a condo for a week of quilting, eating chocolate and just gabbing about quilting while the sun comes up over the Gulf.

And Polly I think the Pensacola Guild is having a show in February but not in the same place. Got to check on this.

This is a GREAT shop. My friend and I stopped in when we were staying at Perdido Key, and were surprised at the selection and quality - we thought we were going into someone's house, from the looks of the outside!

Oh I don't know about that. When I drive east in the morning I see the sun come up over the Gulf.

As for somewhere to go that's warm. Cancun is a good choice because here in South Mississippi its cold also. Was talking to a friend in Vancover B.C. last week and the only difference in weather was... she was getting snow and I was getting rain. I was two degrees warmer than she was.

So come on the Pensacola with Polly, Edna Pearl and I. But I must warn you, Polly will keep you laughing so much you'll have to bring out the Kleenex.

I'm broke, so don't book a bedroom for me. I can drive down for the day whenever you say. My SM weighs a ton, so I'll try to get a quilt to the point of hand-quilting by the time y'all decide to make the trip.

Yes, when you drive up to the house, it's just a house. But when you get inside the shop, it couldn't be more professional! And roomy! It's really great.

So is Gulf Shores :-) Now is the time to get a good deal on a condo, with the town mostly empty except for the snowbirds and locals -- of which there are many.

And I know the best restaurants!

Grew up 20 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, in s.Tx.; the sun definitely comes UP over the Gulf. ;->

Still, it sounds like a nightmare, having to look at that broad expanse of water. I prefer being in-land. The Gulf is prone to carrying in hurricanes; been there, left it behind, no regrets.

R/Sandy- let up on quilting to clear off the front porch, hose down the muddy Welcome mats out in the yard; it's warm enough 52* ;-D

Unfortunately some of us do need passports and to deal with airport security :-( DH & I are hoping to be able to put off air travel for a bit until the latest insanity has calmed down.

The Gulf shore in this part of the world, from Bay St. Louis, MS, to Appalichicola, FL, or thereabouts, including Pensacola, faces south. The sun comes up and goes down over the water if you're on the beach. That is, if you're standing on the beach, you'd look left to see the sun come up and look right to see it go down, and there's water, water, everywhere. If you're not on the beach and you can't see the water, then it appears to come up over the land, just like anywhere else.

Now, are you aware that the sun rises over the west bank of the Mississippi River in New Orleans? (Have fun with that one . . . . :-)

Ah, the possibilities! I wouldn't be in Pensacola, so I wouldn't see the sun rise there. I would, however, be interested in what the quilters got at the S.E.A. shop, w/ details of where they store it.

Ah me. The things I have to live down. Kate will just never get over the time at the Pensacola Quilt Show when I entered her in the fashion show. Was that the trip when I boasted to a Viking dealer that Kate hadn't changed her SM needle in 6 years? Yes. That was fun. Ever see a Viking dealer's hair catch on fire? Polly

Well Polly I told you that my boa was too long. I couldn't help it that the judges "tripped" the light fantastic when I made my entrance.

Don't you remember that I told you why I used that needle for so long. I didn't think it would wear out. I didn't know you couldn't sharpen it in a pencil sharpener either.

And about that lady's hair, I said I was sorry. Did you notice how much the color of the flames matched my hair color.

Thanks for the dates, Kate. Our quilt show here in West Monroe, La is the same weekend (and I'm the Hospitality Chairman) or I would schedule a road trip home. Is it earlier this year-I remember it being sometime in March so i could make both shows.
