Serious prayers needed.

A few weeks ago I told you all about Laurene Sinema's not feeling great and being back in the hospital. (For those that don't remember, and newbies.... Laurene is the owner of the Quilted Apple, Phoenix's oldest quilt shop. She has had two lines of fabric produced by South Seas and has lots of patterns and a few books published, mostly with appliqué and redwork patterns.) I had class today, and we were told some distressing news. Laurene may not make it back to teach her classes. She does have cancer, again. And they are not sure of the origin, they think it started as ovarian. Her bladder and intestinal area are also involved. Chemo will start as soon as they figure out what kind to do. She has lost quite a bit of weight and is not getting out of bed much. She is receiving visitors, bedside. And loves to hear from the quilting community. Please keep this wonderful woman in your thoughts and prayers. IF you would like to send her greetings of any sort the shop e-mail address is: snipped-for-privacy@swlink.net. The shop address is 3043 N. 24th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85016. They will print off e-mails and get them to her, and deliver any cards that arrive at the shop for her. She would love to hear from you I am sure. Thanks, we miss having her teach "her" classes and just being in the shop.

This has been really difficult to write, I took a long time coming home from class because I said I would let you all know about this.

Pati, that is so sad. I will keep Laurene in my thoughts. Take a breath and take care, it's hard to go through this sort of sadness with someone you feel close to. Hugs.

Pati, Thanks for the update on Laurene. I'm so sorry to hear this latest news. I received a warm welcome in her shop when I visited there in April 1997. She won't remember me, but I'll send her a message anyway!

I've never had the luck to meet Laurene, or visit her shop but I know from what you've said she must be a special woman. Give her my love and know that us down here are praying for her.
