Sewing Table

Have you guys seen this sewing table?? I really like it.

I hate sewing at retreats and workshops on folding tables. I'm too short to be at the right height for the machine and if I stack 2 chairs together, my feet dangle.

I hadn't seen it, looks like a cheap way of dropping the bed of the machine. I was attaching a binding last night and it was reminding me exactly why I haven't attempted to quilt anything bigger than 70in square. I realised one of the problems was the space behind the machine, I really need more, but I wouldn't want to have more all the time as the table would then stick out too far into the room. This could be the perfect solution, set it up in front of my regular table when I want it. Definitely something to look out for further reviews on and save up for! Anne

I love mine. It is wonderfully sturdy and yet light weight to lift. The wheels make it so easy to move too.

I had one line that many many years ago that was great. However, if you sew like a bat out of h*ll be aware that the table may shake.

I have one that is similar and so does my mother. Hers is about 25-30 years old (she got it with her old machine) and mine is an alomost identical one to hers found at a second hand store for $5 a couple of years ago. The are not this company, but similar concept. The wheels would be nice at times. I don't have those, but otherwise love it - very sturdy (haven't noticed mine vibrate at hight speeds) and yet packs up for storage or travel. IMHO, Great for some one who doesn't have room to have a table up at all times, or someone who travels with their machine. Again they aren't the particular company Cindy is talking about, so I don't know aything about their quality.

That's why I always take my own adjustable chair to retreats :)

I had a similar table with my Elna Supermatic, purchased in 1966. It was formica over particle board, so it was heavy, and it didn't have wheels, but it worked very well. It was almost always up because I was usually sewing something.

Or wrap some fabric strips around the legs? You could even match your decor!

This one doesn't..... believe me that was my first thought too. But it is really steady/sturdy and I do sew full speed ahead, a lot.

NAYY. You can get it at TSWLTH, and probably from local shops also. I did have a good experience with Allbrands, FWIW.

it's only $99, and I LOVE it. It folds down, so I can get it out of the sewing room when it has to be a guest room. For the price, I think it is a real value. The height is perfect, and it's sturdy, and it makes machine quilting SOOOO much easier.

The EZI one looks a little spendy to me.

I had one similar to that one.... but it was/is very heavy. Since I have a sewing machine table in the sewing room, I got this as a "carry to classes/retreats/workshops/etc" to make sewing away from home easier. It wasn't. The Sew Ezi is very portable, and light weight so doesn't do in my back. (Which is why I wanted a table to use anyway...) Yes it is more expensive. But I feel it is well worth it because it fills my needs. Would I buy the Sew Ezi just to use at home? Probably not. But for a traveling sewing table it is a dream. Easy to fold, easy to transport, and sturdy/steady even when sewing at full speed.

THe table on Allbrands says it's 35 lbs. Not horribly heavy. Any guess that the Sew Ezi table weighs?

Thanks. I couldn't spot the weight on their website.

Oh yeah. The price was a huge roadblock for me as is the weight. Our house goes down a hill and my sewing room is the basement. No way we could get that thing down two flights of steps!

I ended up with a Sylvia table which I love. Also a nice rectangle (though not as large), you can sit centered on the needle because there is more leg room and the hole is big enough for my Janome 6600. All at a much smaller price.

It has good cabinets and other sewing room requirements in prices you may find more affordable than the Horn tables. I have a Arrow Cabinet, similar to the Arrow 98301DL shown on this site. The only difference is that mine does not have the bin on the top surface. It has the multi lift mechanism you want. I like it very much. It is sturdy, stable, and easy to use.

NAYY, just a satisfied Arrow customer. PAT in VA/USA

Thanks Pat. I don't really need a new sewing table but I just for some reason think that Horn mult lift is neato. I have a large vintage singer cabinet from the early 70's that I adapted for my Janome 6600. It really works well for me. I have been watching for a second just like it so I can set them up back to back. I also have a table my dad made for my sewing machine when I was a teenager. My serger sits on that. I keep a large and a small banquet table around for when I actually get to doing a lot of cutting or pinning. Arrow and ROberts both make a similar table like your link. That is a pretty practical design. If I didn't have a table I could set my machine flush into I would definitely go for that. Taria
