I've finally cajoled my Mom into doing a quilt for me, since she's done one for my kids and her other grandchildren. I'm trying to put together what I want in my quilt, and I think it'd be a big help to be able to try out ideas on the computer first. I don't know that my Mom's comfortable enough that she'll be using the software a lot herself, so I don't really want to spend a lot for a software package to have it only used once for my quilt. Has anyone used Google SketchUp or any other common software packages (I can use Visio through work, have legitimate access to most major common drawing packages) to draft quilting ideas, have any suggestions for what worked well?
Anyone know of any libraries or web sites with pre-drawn quilt elements? For example, I'm thinking of using a border with mariner's compasses, an idea from one of my Mom's quilting books. I'd love to find this already laid out where I could just tweek it to what I want.
Thanks for the help!
