Sort of OT: Needing happy thoughts

I'm working on another baby quilt, soft and sweet colors .... nothing could be more comforting than working with beautiful fabric and picturing it wrapped around a baby.

Yes, I need comfort and good thoughts and hope right now. So, here is your opportunity to tell your best blessing on this day. Is it the opportunity to quilt? A hug or kiss from a loved one? Putting your hand into a jacket pocket and finding a $20 bill left over from last winter?.....

Sock it to me, dear friends! Fill my screen with happy thoughts and blessings.

Hugs to you all, Sunny

I started a thread about this, but my DSis is due in mid January after a few problems. I become an aunt in my own right, not just through DH. DSis mentioned previously that it makes a difference, through marriage, I didn't really think to much on it at the time, but the closer she gets to term the more I realise she was right.

another good reason to use up some stash, eh, Melinda. so any idea what colours you'll be using? maybe its not that important as long as no one mistakes the baby for the wrong gender. now lets see, as far as i can tell, for some really odd reason, pink and maybe lavender seems to be the only colours that denote a wee lass. how come boys have a wider range of colours. yet again the male of the species get more choices. oh well. i'm sure baby wont care as long as it is snuggly and warm thru next winter. so you've got longer to get a quilt and other goodies made for the new arrival. have fun!!! j.

My church women's group makes "prayer shawls" which are delivered to the sick, or shut-ins locally and 3 years ago, when my husband had pancreatitis, he was given a beautiful heather brown one. He doesn't wear shawls, but I do and whenever I put it over my shoulders, I could feel the love and prayers coming with it.

I've been feeling pretty blue for the past couple of days, because now my husband has cancer and is receiving 7 weeks of radiation following his unsuccessful surgery last spring.

About an hour ago, I went looking for the prayer shawl and it still works. Just feeling the thoughts and hugs in it are making me a little calmer. It's amazing, the power of a little yarn.

Denise,

I'm sorry to hear that your husband is not well. Try to enbrace (maybe spelled wrong) each day with him, knowing....today he is still with you, today you can still hear his voice, today you can touch his face, hand, etc., because TODAY is all any of us has anyhow.

My prayers and hugs go to you and your DH. Launie, in Oregon

DS's quilt has pink and lavender on it, as well as gray, cream, white, black, etc. It's a scrap quilt but he doesn't care, it's his! The next one I started one is the same sort of colours but a different layout, I had lots of squares and triangles cut up from left over scraps from us making clothes (mum, sis, and me), so I've trying to use them up, which has stalled as I keep having to make new stuff for DS, who keeps growing! Also that I've been hand piecing, EPP, and that over the last two winters I'd got the knitting bug. I've still got a few knit things to finish up, and new shorts to make for DS, and a few things for me. Plus an investment house to get ready for rent...
