Squishie fabric content

Hej!

I've received squishies from members of this group over the years and sent a few as well. However, I feel shy about sending fabric unless I am 100% positive that it is 100% cotton. I have some cute fat quarters that I think may be only about 80% cotton. The fabrics definitely have a high cotton fiber content in any case. Would it be a Squishie Faux Pas(tm) to mail these to people? I would mention in the note that they were not guaranteed 100% of course.

Thanks in advance!

You could take a small snip from the fabric in question and burn it (near the sink). If the ash is light and powdery the fabric is cotton, if there's a hard ball or thread of brittle stuff left then it has poly in it.

Speaking for myself I don't think it would be a problem sending a squishie that you weren't 100% sure of as long as you sent a note with it. Afterall it's the thought that counts. :o)

I'm happy whenever somebody is kind enough to think of me! But honestly wouldn't use it in a quilt. Might be OK to line a handbag though. Roberta in D, Queen of the Scrap Heap

Those of us that work with Crazy Quilts wouldn't have a problem with them. The enclosed note would be appreciated.

Butterfly (who is also collecting for her TATW that has all KINDS of fabrics from all over the world. rate I'm going it'll be a WUH but I have the perfect spot for it in this home :)

If I got a piece of fabric that was soft like cotton I'd use it like cotton. No big deal. Debra in VA See my quilts at

NO! It is most definitely the thought, not what's in the envelope that counts

I have to second this. It is the thought that is behind the squishie that is important, not the squishie itself.

Erin, I am completely indiscriminate when it comes to fabric. Please feel free to send them to me as quickly as possible, before you feel some urge to send them off to another, unsuspecting quilter. My address is in the directory.
