Success!

I had to go to Aberdeen, WA today for work. After the tour, meeting and working lunch, I looked up quilt shops on my navigation device (Blackberry through Verizon with VZ Navigation). It has a feature that lets you look things up in the local area. I'd never used it for quilting.

WOW! It turned up quilt shops all up and down the coast! I went to the one in town. Small, sweet place. They sell Berninas too. Hanging with the Bernina stuff was the slide on and off table. I broke mine last year when putting it on crooked. I figured a new one would cost some horrible price. It was $21.50. I snatched it up. I did have to put back a couple of things. That is OK. I've been sewing without a table for so long. I'm just thrilled!

So, am I going to sew tonight? No. I have things to press before I can sew. And, I'm too tired to do that. Oh well......

Can I put my nightgown on yet???

Happy quilting,

Lenore

Honey, if you are at home and have no plans to go our or have anyone show up on your doorstep, you can put on your nightgown. I don't care if it's only 3:30 in the afternoon!

Hey, anytime you can put your night gown on. If I'm not leaving the house I don't get dressed at all. It drives my MIL crazy. She's up at

5am, hair done make up on and cooking breakfast for everyone. If you want breakfast in my house you better get it yourself or you'll get nothing. MIL thinks that's a women's job. I'm lucky if I'm out of bed by 9:30am. Although that will change in September when the oldest starts grade one. Yes, my kids sleep in too. The oldest is usually up before me, but sometimes I have to wake the 2 yr old at 10am cuz she's not up. The pj thing also started cuz I've ruined too many shirts that I liked when I end up cleaning something. So now I don't care if my pj's have bleach spots or any other stain, as long as they are clean. Hubby even jokes that I wrecked him when we got married. He's so used to hanging in his jogging pants it's the first thing he does when he comes through the door. But he gets embarrassed if someone happens to pop in, cuz it's not proper, like his mother taught him. My friends get a kick out of it. It's how they know if I've left the house or not. Kinda funny I think but I refuse to be anything but comfortable in my own home.

Could we take this back to Lenore's broken Bernina SM table for just a minute? I've found that those tables have little fragile plastic pins that are supposed to fit in and support the table. Not so. Nay. Nope. Maybe I'm just a hundred-pound bully - but my Bernina tables need a serious foundation. I haven't load-bearing tested all of them but my 1230, 153, 155 and 440 have all benefited from my extremely decorative assist. I put two tomato paste cans beneath the table to give additional support. For sure, I'm a heavy-handed quilter and confess to doing some strong heaving and hauling to get SM quilting done. The tomato paste can is pretty much just the right height although whole kernel corn might do okay. The cans will only last a year or two and will have to be replaced when they become suspicious. They also make our grandchildren smile. They always enjoy conducting a tour for their friends to come see 'Granny's room'. Polly

So glad I was able to help, Lenore. Another thing you might want to consider for TLC for your Bernina is a quiet base where you set it. I have two layers of plain old (sort of rubber) drawer liner beneath mine. The SMs run a little quieter and, in theory, might make your beloved Bernina last a day or so longer because it absorbs some vibration. Also, we've found that Berninas love Aurifil 50 wt thread. That thread doesn't shed fuzzies all over the SMs innards as badly as many threads do and can usually be found for ½ price if you're willing to piece with off the wall colors like gumdrop yellow and eggplant. I'm with you, Joanna. Oh yes, I'm an earlier riser than you--my QI doesn't appreciate late sleepers, although he's a good napper--however, in the winter I live in my sweats, except for when I'm too lazy to change out of my nightgown. ;-) A person ought to be comfortable in his/her own house, imo.
