The 2nd of 2 gift quilts

Here is the second of two gift quilts that I have made for some old friends. who live out of state. I have done a post construction wash on both of them and I really like the effect. I may be doing this on most of my quilts now that I see the results on a couple of recent quilts. It iomparts and old timey look to the quilts, which i like. In an aside to Sandy, who wondered about the drying of the quilts, in that I used Hobbs Wool batting; I dried it in the dryer on delicate setting and permanent press, cycle, and it came out fine. I would say go ahead and do it and I think you will be fine as long as you keep the stitching lines at a reasonable distance. Mine are 2" but others have said they have gone out to 4" with no problems. Here you go.

Very nice, as usual, John -- is this a twin to the one your made for your DW? And thanks so much for letting me know about the drying of the wool batting! :)

Almost a twin. She told me that the wife of the pair that these quilts are going to, has a favorite color of pink and all it's variations. I had a lot of these colors already cut and ready to go. The only difference is that the sashing on my wife's quilt is a darker burgundy than the sashing on this one. I actually washed both of the quilts I made for our use in front of the tv and they came out fine after drying like I explained in the above post. it seems to be alright to wash and dry this type of batting, again as long as you pay attention to the stitch spacing. There is a section of the stitching on these that is 2" x 6' and it holds up to the above wash/dry regime. I will admit to being a little bit leery about doing a full size quit the first time I did it, thought. Not to worry.

John, You are indeed a generous friend to make so many quilts for your (lucky) pals. I like the simple way you hung the quilt for photography. I have a similar corner in my home that would support a board with quilt. I am wondering what type clips you are using for the purpose. Thanks, Pat in Virginia
