Update for Polly

Okay Polly, here is the fender bender update.

The phone rang all day long after the morning fiasco. Both insurance companies, autobody place, police, etc. By 8:00 o'clock that night our school district closed for Tuesday and Anchorage soon after and the next day by 4:00 the same for Wednesday, so between that and my taking Monday off, I'll have had the whole week off from school for Thanksgiving week.

Gladly, while I sensed a little soreness later afternoon and took some Tylenol, I got up Tuesday morning feeling fine and not an ache or pain anywhere. Still didn't venture out on the roads and hung close to home.

Wednesday we decided that we needed to go to the bank, store, the hardware for gravel and the autobody place. Should have driven both cars as the technician didn't want to open the hood as he was afraid he wouldn't be able to get it closed again. So, home we went, stripped the car down to nothing left in it, and back to the repair shop and left it to be checked out. He had run his computer program on Clean Retail and he fears that the repairs may be near or exceed this so the insurance company may total the car. That is what I might get paid for it so if that is the case, along with a small bit of cash, I would have a down payment on a new car. NOT what I want to be doing right now. I planned on car shopping next summer at a leisurely pace. So at the moment we are down to one car until at least Monday, maybe longer.

I know what I would like mileage-wise, but that doesn't always equate with model or size and then there is the price factor. Ugh. Car shopping rates right up there with job hunting and moving as not very fun activities.

So, all okay here, roads are much better and steaks and portabellas on the grill for turkey day.

Best wishes to all for all you are thankful for and thankful for all of you.

Thank you Steven for reporting back in. I am just so glad that your body wasn't yelling and screaming at you the next day. And, FWIW, my idea of creating banana splits for 'just the two' of us didn't go quite as planned. Word got around and we had lots of happy guests who'd never gotten to create their very own banana split. The one with 7 cherries on top looked ridiculous but the artist loved it. Polly
