update on DS - OT

Mark has discovered that people with cf need a specially trained team tending him during surgery or he risks respiratory arrest. So the surgery scheduled for today was canceled by Mark and, instead, I went to St Louis with him for a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon. After extensive xrays and a painful hands on examination of his shoulder, the surgeon has advised Mark that surgery is probably NOT NECESSARY!

Thanks for thinking of us - Someone is listening! He will be in a brace for 5 weeks followed by therapy on the shoulder - letting the body heal itself.

Glad to hear that a doctor suggested "no Surgery". You can always have it later if you need it. Good luck with the therapy, it is hard work too.

Glad to hear that the surgery isn't necessary. Will keep Mark in my good thoughts and hoping the brace won't be too uncomfortable.
