Washable quilting marker Q.

On the recently finished quilt, Scrappy Field of Dreams, I marked a pattern on the some of the blocks that I didn't end up using. The marker was Fons & Porter Washable Graphite. I gentle machine washed the quilt when finished purely to wash out the marks. It didn't. Any ideas why not? A quilt buddy thinks the lines will fade 'over a few weeks'.....

I would write Fons and Porter and ask them.

Just a guess, but some markers become harder to remove if they've been ironed.

Hope you find the answer--and, even better, the solution!

That could be - as I did iron the top very well before sandwiching, and then before machine quilting. Hmpphhh. Not happy.

Just look at the F&P online shop and it says this - ..."For marking quilting lines, seam allowances for hand piecing and placement lines for applique pieces. Avoid making heavy marks - Remove marks by rubbing gently with fabric eraser or washing gently with plain water - Heavy marks may require mild soap." I've tried using an eraser and that is helping a little. Bron

I kept the instructions from my F & P pencil refill, carried them over to my magnifying glass/light and carefully read. Well, just the English. Anyhow. I find NOTHING that says you can not remove the marks if you iron them. The F & P folks are just so very nice; I do urge you to contact them. We need to know. Polly

Well, then, my idea was to add some detergent. but if you've already done that, I'm stumped.
