There sure are some weird and ugly but they do look good (some of them) when made up. Thanks for the link, it has inspired me sort of.

I did see an interesting thought there. It was this: ** why name a quilt something deep? Why not just name it like you would a person? So I called this one Sarah.** I agree. In Pensacola there was a quilt named "What Was I Thinking?" and I wondered too. It was thousands of tiny yo-yos and exquisite. The quilter stood by basking in the admiration of her creation and agreed with every comer; whatever could she have been thinking? But. Why must quilt names have obscure, cute or profound meaning? I think I'll name my next quilt 'Ralph'. I never met anyone named Ralph but it could happen. Polly
So long as the quilt is happy and scrappy; none of those 'this is a very serious occasion' quilts would be pleased to be named Polly. Polly
"Roberta" So maybe you wouldn't mind if I happened to name a quilt "Polly"?
I didn't see the original post here, Polly, but I love your idea. I always have trouble coming up with names for my quilts, and I usually end up calling them by the name of their pattern. Your solution would work so well! :)
I don't name most of my quilts or other objects I own. A quilting friend names everything in her life. She purchased her long arm quilting machine with the money she inherited from her mother so name the machine after her mother. The first time I visited her house after the machine arrived she invited me downstairs to see "Dorothy". I was shocked for a moment until I remember that she was inviting me to see her new machine and not her mother's remains.
I really should name quilts which are >I did see an interesting thought there. It was this:
Susan: You could name your quilts for your quilting buddies. For example, you could name your next quilt Pat or Patricia!! Just an idea. Pat in Virginia
