It's been too d**n hot to work outside so...I discovered Sunbonnet Sue (I know, I know...where have I been all my life?). I knew she was around, but I never thought about the possibilities. Then, after seeing some really cute sites, I decided to try some. Well, I've never done any applique and had been avoiding it. So, as usual, I jumped right in because I had some ideas for Sue I wanted to try...nurse Sue, red ridinghood Sue, etc. I've done 4 so far and will use them in a wall hanging (pictures to follow when done). I used the lt. interfacing and turn right side out technique (some iron on for some small pieces). I mostly used the button hole stitch and some machine blind hem stitch. I had fun and am not so intimadated by the applique now.
Then (not done yet), I saw Rebecca Wat on Simply Quilts and had to try it. Amazingly, our library had her book. I've been madly folding fabric! I love the stars, the inside-out flowers, and the polygon flowers. I think I'm going to make a BIG sunflower pillow. I'll probably put all the different ones in a wall hanging.
DH asked about his "is it a quilt yet" again. I asked him if he really thought I'd be working on quilts when it's 100 degrees outside. Anyhow, my horizons are expanding!
