What would you do?

If you could "magically" have all the necessary skills and equipment to create ANY quilt you wanted....

what would you create?

Me... I would hand-quilt to perfection... my perfectly needle-turned Baltimore Album. Lots of Reds and Greens on bright white.

Until the magic happens, I will just dream....

So what is your "dream" project?????

I would like to do a Mariner's Compass or a Lone Star or maybe even just finish up the Tumbling Blocks quilt I have started.

Hugs, Mika

What a lovely question, Kate. Thank you.

I would like to do a Lone Star, in fairly closely related or progressing colours, (don't know what yet) with beautiful applique in the usually blank corner squares. It is a definite hope, but I might never achieve it. However, now I have stated it as a dream, it may get there! . In message , Kate G. writes

It is a lovely question. I'd want to create a miniature like Patti can. Just an old-fashioned Log Cabin or Attic Windows sort of pattern with blocks so tiny they'd make your teeth ache. They always have to remove me from the miniatures at quilt shows. Yes. I would love to be able to do that. Polly

Same as yours, Kate. With more traditional colors, I think. And in miniature.

I don't think it will ever happen.

I have three traditional quilts on my 'to do before I die' list

A grandmother's flower garden A postage stamp quilt A Baltimore Album quilt

All to be thoroughly and deliciously hand pieced and quilted.

I have pieced three blocks for my grandmother's flower garden. I have swapped 1 1-2 inch squares for the postage stamp quilt. I drool at Baltimore Album quilts.

I have in the back of my head a wonderful low-contrast all beiges/taupes/creams New York Beauty with TONS of fancy feathered quilting

Second to that is a super duper quilted-within-an-inch-of-its-life queen sized whole cloth. Latest idea for this one is white on one side, buttery gold on the other. In my mind, it would look wonderful on its own, or underneath any of the quilts I currently use seasonally that are not quite long enough for a full drop on the sides.

I'd love to do a BIG wholecloth in a rich cream and handquilt it. So far I've only ever attempted to handquilt one small cushion cover. One day maybe. When life slows down some.

No question about it, mine would be a "Dear Jane" quilt in repro civil war fabric.

i think a Mariner's Compass in gradated colors. then hand quilt it, exquisitely, of course, then do a whole cloth quilt in cranberry on one side and gold on the other. then of course...master hand piecing to perfection.... so many quilts, so little time. amy in CNY

I want to make a Meridian City quilt. I don't do applique, but I have blocks designed on paper or in my mind. Maybe someday I will figure out a way.

What's a Meridian City quilt? Inquiring minds want to know!

Oh a Baltimore Album quilt would be up there on my list as well, but I would love a bed sized Cathedral Window quilt for my bed and a king sized double wedding ring quilt for my son's 10th anniversary. I have 4 years to work on that one! Right now I would settle for perfect machine quilting done by me! I am really intimidated by doing my own maching quilting for some reason.
