blade runner and glass cutting mat?

Hi everybody, I am interested in the blade runner and cutting mat. Does anyone else have this and if so how do you like it? Right now I am using a coluzzle swivel and an Exacto swivel. I will mainly be using it for freehand work and maybe some of the EK Templates.

TIA, Dorothy in NY

I have one and played with it some but just don't have the hang of it yet. I do like the glass mat, though. I just need to practice until I get it down.

I have a set with lettering templates I'd sell the whole thing for 20 dollars... it has 3 sets of lettering and the blade and glass mat.. if you want... I used it a few times, but a friend got a quikutz so I go over there.. LOL

I have the blade runner, and I find it doesn't cut very well, plus it nicks my templates a lot. I'm a lefty, which might be part of the problem, but I've followed all directions and practiced a lot, and I still don't like it. If you don't care if it's very neat its ok, but...I don't like it.

Although I do NOT have the blade runner, I haven't heard to many good reviews on it. I spoke with a product rep about it one time and they said the trick is keeping it totally upright.

You may get other responses, but for me.. love it..

Thing about it is you have to learn to cut straight up and down. Things get messy and cut if it's at an angle. I use a generic glass piece from a dollar picture frame, works just as well. Makes me more aware to cut straight. Also make sure the template is under the lip thing. After that I have found it's a breeze. The cutting straight thing takes a bit to learn but you'll get the hang of it. :)

I bought the blade runner as my first cutting tool. As with everything out there, it has its pros and cons. First, YOU have to have a glass cutting surface with it. SAVE your money and do not spend it on one of those in the stores. I had a piece of tempered glass that works wonderful. Also one of those newer glass cutting boards will work, as long as it does not have a textured surface.I also have a fiskars cutting system, swivel knives, etc. From my personal use, creative memories has the best one that works the best. Agai EVERYTHING has its ups and downs!!What to cut with your blade runner?, the Fiskars templates work the best, those little thin ones are a challenge, but it takes PRACTICE! I have not done any freehand yet, but I suspect the bladerunner will be the best there. So have fun and practice your heart out!!!

I got one and I can't figure it out. I tried and tried. I am holding it exactly upright but it still catches on the paper and on the templates.

New blade may be needed.

No, I've tried replacing my blade, and I'm very careful to hold it upright, but I still have problems. I guess it must all depend upon the operator!

Well, I love my CM cutting system, my micro tip scissors, and my swivel exacto knife, so anyone who wants it can have my Blade Runner.
