Cookie Exchange to Card Exchange

I attended a cookie exchange party today: take 6 dozen of one type of cookie to a party, play some games and come home with 6 dozen cookies of various varieties. I liked how this party was manged regarding the volume of cookies and yet there were like 15-17 women who attended. Everyone was given a box and we were divided into three teams. Each team made a total of six trips to the cookie table. Each trip you were allowed to take exactly 12 cookies and no more than 3 from a single tray in each trip. I haven't figured out the math just yet, but it worked great.

Anyway, on the way home, my brain said I could do that with scrapbooking!! I scaled my thinking to cards specifically. I thought someone on this group certainly has hosted a card swap party before and can share some ideas.

My general thoughts would be at each participant makes a set number of cards all the same. One person makes birthday, one, anniversary, wedding, get well, thinking of you, thank you, etc. At the party, you take turns choosing from the card stacks. You come home with a year's supply of hand made cards!

It sounds cool, but 72 cards sounds like a huge undertaking. I can bake 6 dozen cookies in 2-3 hrs but it would take me 6 weeks to make 72 cards! LOL. It still sounds like a fun idea.

That sounds like a neat idea Amy, but I agree the time, not to mention the organization, figuring out and all those hings I thinks would be complicated!!

You're right Amy that does sound like a great idea, but I'm with you I couldn't get 72 cards done. I made 45 for M-C's swap for the troups I think it was last year and I thought that was a major undertaking. We definitely need some brain storming on this idea.

I had thought of this before. I thought of having groups of no more than 6 and each person would sign up to make 6 b'day, or 6 anniversary, or 6 thankyou, or 6 thinking of you, or 6 masculine, or 6 get well and then send them to the host and they would be swapped out and each participant would get 6 cards back including one of their own. Cookies? Where? I'm all for cookies. LOL Oh cards.....72? Ummm....let me think. No. LOL I've participated in card swaps before, though. I think the most I've had to make, or heard of in a swap, was 20. But your idea does sound like a good idea. We definately need some major brainstorming on this one.
