Cuttlebug embossing

will the cuttlebug embossing plates, the ones that do the 5x? pages, work in the Sizzix? I was part of a group last monday and one of the ladies had the cuttlebug and some embossing plates. I loved it but don't have the money to get the machine right now, hoping the plates will work in sizzix.

Thanks for your time. Tam in IL

Tammy are you talking about the embossing folders or the other things? I am not sure what you mean by 5x pages?? I have some of the embossing folders and they work in the sizzix just fine. I think you may need a shim of some sort to make the embossing plates work in the sizzix. I have the Cuttlebug, and am finding I use it more than my sizzix machine! Linda

ditto.... i use my sizzix more now that i have it. I use my sizzix, sizzlets, cuttlebug plates, cuttlebug embossing plates, quickutz, and the exclusive quickutz in it!

My daughter is using my old sizzix sidekick to run her play food thru it. so far little potatoe chips, french fries, and last night a plastic fork thru it. She loves it!

I seen a tutorial on where you take a water bottle, cardstock, embossing folder and rolling pin. You spray the paper so it releases easily and you tape the paper to the embossing folder so it holds in place otherwise it will slide around. Then you take the rolling pin and roll it over it. You'll have to play with the pressure to get it right. This may save you some money. I'll look for the link to the tutorial I can't find it right now.

Another question please, Do I need anything besides the embossing folder to run it through my sizzix? I know there are a couple things w/the cuttlebug that you sandwich it in. Thanks for all your help! Tam in IL

You don't say ... which Sizzix do you have? If you have the BigKick/bigshot, then you have everything you need to make it work.

Go here:

about half way down the page is a link to a file called "sandwich recipes for big shot using competitor products" how to use the bigshot with the embossing folders is on the first page of that pdf.

If you have the regular, red sizzix, then the embossing plates won't fit. The cuttlebug and the Bigkick/bigshot are the same size, and actually can use each other's dies.

Holler if you have more questions. I use quickcutz, spellbinders and just about everything else in my Bigkick. I even got the 12" quickcutz to work, without the 12" cutting pads.

Hi Tam, I just saw the cuttlebug in Walmart for $15.00. Not sure if they had any plates though. Blessings, Dorothy in NY
