I'm Sandy from Southern Indiana. I serve the group as Secret Santa's Elf for the SSS (Secret Santa Swap). I've been scrapping for about 12 years now - about the time my youngest son was born. Yes he was my late in life child. I was 42 when I had him. His oldest brother is 32 this year. My DH and I have been married for 34 years and have 5 children ages 32, 31, 25, 16 and 12. My oldest daughter and I were pregnant at the same time and the boys are 19 days apart. I get a lot of jokes about the movie Father of the Bride 2. My other hobbies beside scrapping are reading, genealogy and local history. I am the County Historian for our community and volunteer at the County Museum. I have also been a Girl Scout Leader for over 26 years and am currently serving out the position of Wolf Cub Scout Leader for a group of boys who got left by their leader. I've never strayed far from home and have lived in three houses within a 3 block radius of each other (except for for two years on the other side of the same county after DH and I first got married) my entire life.

My favorite scrapping styles include hidden journaling, love metal embellishments, ribbon and fibers except in my heritage and scouting albums which I tend to leave as flat as possible. I do not scrap chronologically, rather I scrap what interests me at the time. I worked for four months one year and completed 30 years of Christmas LO's in two albums. Then went on to Halloween, back to my kids sports LO's, baby pictures, etc. Challenges and swaps are my favorite activities and they seem to keep me going when I get into a creative slump. I think I've rattled on long enough.....

Hi, I'm Karen... I don't do much if any scrapping any more because it seems like a bit of a waste of time to be spending that much effort on preserving stuff for posterity when we have no family or children to give them to, and I feel guilty over the expense that we really can't afford :(. But I'm still hanging around drooling over your pretty things. I make cards instead because they're smaller, cheaper, and much faster.

I have a husband (John) and three cats, and we live in Fort Lauderdale Florida.

Karen,

Glad to meet you. I understand about the scrapping part... I think I would still do it some, but for my enjoyment probably... Since I have a family to (at this moment) pass it on to, it makes it even more worthwhile. But I lovemaking the cards... I always need a card for something... so by doing this, I get to make the cards and play... and actually have something I can use often...

Sandy,

Since my DH's Mom had him at 42, I can easily understand your life... She basically had 2 families. Her first husband died shortly after she had her third son... She re-married and had a daughter and 7 years later had Steve. I recently heard that if you have children late in life, you will most likely live to be 100. She does not want to live that long. Her oldest son is easily old enough to be our Dad. His kids are now in their mid 30's and early 40's. As a matter of fact all of his nieces and nephews are in mid/late 30's or early 40's except for one. His sister had a son in between my two daughters. So he is in his

20's.

I need to make a trip to St. Petersburg, IN soon... How far is that from you???? My Mom was born in Terra Haute (I hope I did not miss spell that).

I like to scrap whatever I am in the mood for. That is why I usually tend to make the cards. I actually end up having more proof that I am using my stuff. I started scrapping about 9 years ago. I had pictures in shoe boxes because I would not put them in those magnetic albums....I still have about 10000 pictures printed.... Now that I have a digital cameras, I probably have that many more saved on my computer....

LOL, I will never run out of things to keep my hands busy....

Chatty Cathy,

Sounds like my kind of friend. I love to eat good Mexican food.... Esp. Salsa. I enjoyed your Bio. I used to tell what all I collected, but I am kind of running out of space, so now I try to collect dust......... LOL, I can then throw it away. I have many collections.... But it seemed I was constantly trying to find a place to sit my many types of things and finally I told my girls that I did not need any more....

I too Love A Good Hamburger.... Not many places actually have a really GOOOD Hamburger any more.... We are lucky enough that we have a few places here in Central Arkansas that actually do have a Great Hamburger....

Do they have Five Guys where you are? They just moved down into Florida and they're a really good burger, especially if you get it with all the toppings. Their fries are wonderful too... we went to the new Fort Lauderdale store for lunch on Saturday. Mmmmmm it was good!

Hello! My name is Linda, also known as "Linda C". I live in Danville, a small town located in East Central Illinois. I have lived most of my life in Illinois. I met my husband here, and we moved to South Carolina, where we were married, and then we moved to Georgia. We have two boys both born in Augusta, Ga. DS#1 is almost 13 and very involved in sports and girls...haha..and DS#2 is almost 20 and recently became a welder and he is a volunteer firefighter. My stepdaughter is 28 and is married and lives in Knoxville TN. We lived in the South for 12 years and decided to move back home to be nearer to our families, so that our kids would know their grandparents and all their relatives instead of only seeing them once a year. We keep quite busy with school and sporting events throughout the year! My DH is an ASE Master Mechanic/Auto Technician with over 30 years experience and works in a collision repair shop with his cousin and nephew. I am a full time cake decorator in the bakery of one of our local grocery stores. I love my job a lot! I also bake and decorate wedding cakes at home. I love to cook and bake, and I can lose myself in a good book for a couple of hours. I have always enjoyed being creative, and love all sorts of crafting: Stamping, Scrapbooking, card making, altered art and ATC's. I have fallen away from scrapbooking lately and really need to get back to it. Shopping for scrapping stuff and especially paper is so much fun! With my job and my hobbies, I can be creative at work AND at home! What more could I ask for? :-) I have been a member here on RCS since August of '04! Linda

I'm not familiar with St. Petersburg, IN. Where is it located in the state? Terre Haute is about 2 hours from my house. My son and grandson get a kick out of confusing people over their relationship. My grandson asked the Boy Scout troop leader if his uncle could be his male partner on the camping trip and was told yes, not knowing the relationship. Both boys are in the same troop. Everyone got a laugh out of that one.

Hello,

My name is Lynne you'll see me on group as "King's Crown". It's a dish pattern I collect and consult with other collectors about. You can check out some pictures on my website devoted to the pattern

I live in Northern California with my DH of 21 years, my 17 year old son, 14 year old daughter, black poodle named Little Star and 2 Leopard Ghettos. I have a lot of reasons to scrap and don't do it nearly as much as I'd like too. When I scrap I do it for myself. My husband's parents passed away the first year we were married and we did what we wanted with all their stuff. Made me learn to use and enjoy everything I have as my children will keep what they want and sell the rest in a yard sale for nickel. I have encouraged them to do exactly that also. Don't get hung up on stuff. I'm a stay at home mom and have been from the beginning. Was going to go right back to work and DH stay home with the kids, but after spending 3 months with my son I wanted him all to myself.

I like to tell my son and daughter that they are my greatest craft projects. Bwah hahaha.... I say it in a creepy Dr. Frankenstein like manner too since we love Halloween almost more than Christmas. I love to do all types of Crafts. I like to make cards, Scrapbook, knit, crochet, cook, crosstitch, tye dye, do pysanky, sew to name a few. Right now I'm learning to use a knitting machine a friend generously gave me. It is SO cool. Some day I'd like to get my butt in gear and sell some of my crafts. Maybe even make a living with it.

While crafting I like to listen to books and podcasts. I just finished "Marley and Me." That book made me snort with laughter out loud.

Favorite food it probably Mexican, but I too love a good hamburger. Just had an In 'N Out burger and fries today. Had to take the poodle and lizards out of the house while I had it sprayed for ANTS!! They are a marching in full force at my house! So, went out to lunch and the poodle and I enjoyed a hamburger.

Cheers, Lynne

Isn't that book just the best? I laughed so hard at parts in the beginning, I had to stop and wipe the tears away. LOVE that book. Out of curiosity, what podcasts do you listen to? I'm totally into Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and Car Talk from NPR ... not to mention ScrapTime from that Canadian gal (that one is video). With all the pods out there, you'd think I'd know someone else that listens to podcasts-but I don't. Just curious. Kathy

I'm Kathy, AKA K2 (short for KTigger2 cuz I'm a Tigger fanatic). I've been scrapping since the 90's. I also quilt (now just less so than scrapping). I live in Mendota Heights MN with my DH Matt, and his younger son Andrew (older son Austin is in college). We have two furbabies: Hailey the black lab and Pebbles the cat.

Sheesh, writing about yourself is hard! Well, ok, I also run (I have 3 marathons and one Goofy under my belt). I'm into Lost, Survivor, Project Runway, Top Chef, Boston Legal, and The Amazing Race just to name a few (I watch a lot of tv while treadmilling). I work full time as a coder for a medical software company and am a bit of a computer nerd. I LOVE my touch iPod. I'm anal about my schedule, but only because being that way helps me to get stuff done. And I'm all about DONE.

When I run out of things to scrap about my own life, I try to take pictures and scrap my sister's families for them. After that, I work on stuff for friends. (Just did a motivational quote book for a running partner-had DH take pictures of us running together.) I also do cards and whatever else I can (ie Shutterfly photobooks ROCK) and I can say (with much pride) that I've even enabled a few other people into this lovely hobby.

I don't post here a whole lot, but still love to hang out and try to participate when I can. If you are new-don't feel you need to post a ton to get started, just introduce yourself and hang out for a while. And Welcome!

Sandy, I bet he did... I used to know a couple of kids.... He was her nephew. Think she was several years younger... I know they confused some people... Not sure where St. Petersburg is... It may actually be close to Terre Haute. I need to find a cemetery (with My Aunt's help).... My grand mother and grand father are buried there... Probably some other relatives too... we were supposed to go in May... DD's baby came sooner than we planned... Cyndi Anne

Are you sure it's not just plain "Petersburg" in Pike county, Indiana? I did a search and didn't find a "St. Petersburg" in Indiana. Sandy
