What a wonderful hour I have spend catching up on everyone's lives on RCS. Some friends I know, but learned new stuff about and others I've met and learned more about for the first time.
Well, like some of you might know, I'm Judy from Cape Town, South Africa. And yes, that is our countries name! hiehie - sometimes folks get confused and ask me: "yes, I understand that you are from the South of Africa, but which country?" Anyways, enough said about that.
I'm 37 and married for 13 wonderful years to my DH, Nico. We don't have any human kiddo's but have three kitty furbabies, named, Mina, Vettie (translated to Fatty) and Runty. Oh, yes and I should mention that English is my second language, so forgive me if I get my tenses muddled! I'm very big on conservation and animal rights and just don't get people who does not like animals or even worse, abuse them!
I heard about scrapbooking on a radio talk show a few years ago and decided to check it out on the Internet, as there was very little known about that in our country at that stage. I came across RCS in the process and have never really left ever since! This year I seriously started getting into card making (thanks to Lynne) only toyed around with it before, and now it feels almost like I'm torn between two lovers! LOL My only regret is that I don't have enough time to scrapbook to my hearts content.
I work as a para-legal, specializing in property law, but if all works out, me and DH will be making a huge lifestyle change in 2009. We decided to buy a small farm and start growing pomegranates organically. The reason for this big change is to gain more quality of life and time for each other as well as getting out of the "rat race". Life just is too short to do things you don't really love and before you know it, you wonder what the heck happened to all those years??
But before all that happens, we are taking a cruise in March next year. No M-C, unfortunately not yours - although that would have been awesome! I'm so excited, since it will be our first time on the open ocean. It's a dream come true for us and hopefully a good start to our new lives.
What else is there? Oh yes, I'm always on a diet. I'm one of those people who can only catch the whiff of a cheese cake and gain a pound! Which btw is my favourite sin! LOL So at the moment I'm on the Atkins, and it works pretty well for me. No cravings - yay! I also love to try out new recipes and try to do so at least once a week (usually Sundays). I belong to a recipe club where you get a theme for the month and then have to submit a tested recipe. It's a lot of fun to see what people come up with.
I hate any form of exercise, but love activities like swimming (especially in the ocean), hiking in the mountains and yoga. I like most kinds of music and are really getting into jazz and swing lately! How did that happen? I love to read mystery novels and can easily read the night away - not a good idea if you have to work the next day!
I think I'm a very naive type of person, which can be seen as good or bad, but I prefer it like that. I think there's very little compassion and old fashioned friendliness left in the world and that's what makes this group so special.
