Get to know the members

What a wonderful hour I have spend catching up on everyone's lives on RCS. Some friends I know, but learned new stuff about and others I've met and learned more about for the first time.

Well, like some of you might know, I'm Judy from Cape Town, South Africa. And yes, that is our countries name! hiehie - sometimes folks get confused and ask me: "yes, I understand that you are from the South of Africa, but which country?" Anyways, enough said about that.

I'm 37 and married for 13 wonderful years to my DH, Nico. We don't have any human kiddo's but have three kitty furbabies, named, Mina, Vettie (translated to Fatty) and Runty. Oh, yes and I should mention that English is my second language, so forgive me if I get my tenses muddled! I'm very big on conservation and animal rights and just don't get people who does not like animals or even worse, abuse them!

I heard about scrapbooking on a radio talk show a few years ago and decided to check it out on the Internet, as there was very little known about that in our country at that stage. I came across RCS in the process and have never really left ever since! This year I seriously started getting into card making (thanks to Lynne) only toyed around with it before, and now it feels almost like I'm torn between two lovers! LOL My only regret is that I don't have enough time to scrapbook to my hearts content.

I work as a para-legal, specializing in property law, but if all works out, me and DH will be making a huge lifestyle change in 2009. We decided to buy a small farm and start growing pomegranates organically. The reason for this big change is to gain more quality of life and time for each other as well as getting out of the "rat race". Life just is too short to do things you don't really love and before you know it, you wonder what the heck happened to all those years??

But before all that happens, we are taking a cruise in March next year. No M-C, unfortunately not yours - although that would have been awesome! I'm so excited, since it will be our first time on the open ocean. It's a dream come true for us and hopefully a good start to our new lives.

What else is there? Oh yes, I'm always on a diet. I'm one of those people who can only catch the whiff of a cheese cake and gain a pound! Which btw is my favourite sin! LOL So at the moment I'm on the Atkins, and it works pretty well for me. No cravings - yay! I also love to try out new recipes and try to do so at least once a week (usually Sundays). I belong to a recipe club where you get a theme for the month and then have to submit a tested recipe. It's a lot of fun to see what people come up with.

I hate any form of exercise, but love activities like swimming (especially in the ocean), hiking in the mountains and yoga. I like most kinds of music and are really getting into jazz and swing lately! How did that happen? I love to read mystery novels and can easily read the night away - not a good idea if you have to work the next day!

I think I'm a very naive type of person, which can be seen as good or bad, but I prefer it like that. I think there's very little compassion and old fashioned friendliness left in the world and that's what makes this group so special.

I find that if there is a book available I have to read the book before I see the movie. It gives a real insight into what the characters are thinking and in no way detracts from the end of the movie for me.

Crystal, I knew we had Hawaii in common, but your post shows something else

-- my grandfather graduated from Berea College, and I have been there a few times. > I am so glad this got started. Now I finally have time to post. >

Hello Everybody! My name is Tammy and I live in Central IL, Danville, about

35 mi east of Champaign and 90 mi west of Indianapolis. I've been scrapping for about 2 or 3 yrs now. More than anything I have a mini store in my craft room. I have all this cool stuff, but finding the time and getting motivated is another thing. I've been married for 32 1/2 yrs. We have 2 lovely daughters. One is married and has a son that is 6 yrs old. The other is almost engaged to her brother-in-laws brother. At least I don't have to get used to another in-law, we already know her, lol. Both girls live in Madison, WI. Hate the drive but it could be worse. I lost my mother to cancer will be 6 yrs Dec 26. I miss her a lot. Celebrated my 50th birthday yesterday. My girls and family were home for Thanksgiving and threw me a Surprise Birthday Breakfast. They got me good, cause who is expecting a party for breakfast? I truly think if it had been during the evening I would've caught on. I think I have the best girls there are, but of course we all think that about our kids. I love most kinds of crafting, camping, fishing, playing volleyball and spending as much time with my family as possible. We have 2 female ferrets which are as much my kids as the human ones are. My husband has them spoiled to death. They hear his voice and they are right there cause they know "daddy" will give them some treats. I share their room with them, 1/3 is their room and 2/3 is my craft room. Whenever I'm in there working they are laying right there at my feet. Its so cute. They may not run up wagging their tails and stuff when you enter the room or house like a dog would, but they love their people and give kisses just as well. Well, nice to meet you all and hoping to join in on some of the card making and scrapping challenges coming up.

Have a good day!! Tam in IL

I don't get to scrap much anymore thanks to chasing a 9 month old around, but I have lots of pictures now to do..ha ha! Oh...I also have a dog, a miniature cocker spaniel named Colby. Well..gotta run, the baby is crying...more later.

HI. I'm Kate ("A scrapbooking diva") and am from New York. I grew up on Long Island, went to school in Oswego NY, travelled to Ireland in

1986 for a peace conference and am currently married to Larry my best friend for the last 9 years but been together since 1996.

I've been scrapbooking since the mid 1980s but fell into archival scrapbooking in 1998. I also cardmake, make jewelry, rubberstamp, work with polymer clay, love to bake and hang out with my family.

i have no children but love to spoil my three nieces -- mostly Sarah who lives closer. I also do not have furbabies as Larry is allergic but I had a westie named Ollie, a mutt named max and a black cat named Pepper.

I've been in a creative funk for the last 3 months maybe longer.

My work can be seen here
