how to organize

Hello everyone,

It seems to me like everyone has a room for scrapbooking or something similar and well, I do it on the dinner table and have to gather all my stuff from different places each time!

We have this room at our house that we planned to desing into a study one day... We had planned to have 2 desks and lots of shelves but havent got around to doing anything yet...

So I was wondering has anyone got any ideas on how we may design something that would hold up everything related with scrapbooking but don't consume too much space?

I have my full loft converted into a scraproom so I have lots of space but I am sure that you will find a scheme that fits your space at the above link. HTH

I started out with a folding table, a small chest-of-drawers that wasn't needed elsewhere in the house (drawers are a GREAT way to hold your tools) and a baker's rack full of plastic shoeboxes...

Thanks for sharing that link, Marilyn. I've bookmarked it for future reference.

Drawers are a great way to organize without taking up a lot of space. Especially if you can find the plastic see-through drawers, then you'll be able to see what you have. If you're looking for ways to go vertical, I would go with shelves, of course. Then you could use photo boxes, plastic containers, etc to organize your scrapbooking stuff in. I hope that helps!

I started with and it is the base of my operation, a old computer desk with the hutch part on top. It works GREAT!! and to boot they are cheap compared to most other cabinets, desks and lockers.

Thanks everyone for the ideas,

I guess I'll go with lots of shelves and a large desk! we already need a wall full of shelves for the books we own and well, I'll get see through drawers that can fit into the shelves maybe (we'll get it done in a carpenter - is that the right occupation :)) I'll let you know about the progress :))

Hi everyone!!! I began to redesign the room yesterday!!! Well, only got a desk for the time being!! We went to IKEA and ? got myself a large corner desk that has places to hang magazines and stuff! there are no cupboards or drawers but that'll keep me busy for some time! We managed to put together half of it and we'll do the rest tonight and then I'll hopefully put up pics of the new scrappin' area :))

Thanks Marilyn and Sandy :) Well last night I only gathered my paper in a wheeled tray beneath the table and up my photos around it... Oh and I organized all my books and magazines on the racks as well :) hopefully this will really make me do more scrapping :) now I'm planning to get some pencil cases and stuff cos I buy tones of colored pencils and never use them, if I see them in the open, I may get inspration :))

I bought one of those three drawer plastic storage things from Wal-Mart. It will hold 8.5x11 paper in each drawer. I have it sitting on the back corner of my work table. One drawer is for adhesives, the next for the CM cutting system pieces, and the third for the misc tools I use all the time (hole punch, sanding block, wire cutter, ruler, clips, eraser, scissors, etc.). Then I have a regular school pencil box for my markers and pens, and a pencil holder for all of my colored pencils. This works great for me.
