HP 8250 with Vivera inks and vellum printing

Hi: I am trying to print some scrapbook text on vellum using our HP 8250 printer. If I print just black, the text comes out fine. If I print color, and even mixed black and color text on a line, it bleeds like crazy. Has anyone else out there found a printer setting that works? I have tried quite a few, but I am running out of vellum.

Thanks, Scott

p.s. Our old Canon printer worked just fine. Too bad it stopped working.

Hi scott,

Try changing the print mode to a lessor quality like draft. I have had luck doingthat with HP's especuially in the past.

You had good luck with Canon, as I have!, because their ink is quicker drying, the same with Epsons. I have been using a Canon and a Epso as of late for my color printing and just ordered a new Epson Photomate to use speciaifically for pictures. I have a HP laser taht I use for journaling and some types of vellums and tranparencies it does ok, others crinkle, the ink smears it is really a 50 50 shot with it to work on anything but regular paper. just teh nature with HP's I think.

Good luck and again just try changing the print quality. If not may I suggest, err ENABLE as that what we are here for (LOL!) get ya a new Epson or Canon!!

Scott,

I bought a package of vellum paper at Staples that claims it is specifically for an inkjet printer. I bought it to stamp on, so I haven't actually tried it in my printer yet (I have an HP PhotoSmart that uses the Vivera inks). It is at home (and I'm at work on my lunch break), but I'll write myself a note to try printing on it when I get home. I've meant to do that anyway!

I have tried the vellum with my HP printer now ... and it works beautifully! I even tried to smudge it as it came out of the printer, and it was already dry. I used printing in several different colors and sizes. The paper is made by Strathmore and called "Ink Jet Translucent Vellum". I don't remember how much I paid for it.

Where did you buy it, Gina and what setting was your printer on?

( I see by the strange sender address of my last message that my home installation of Thunderbird needs some tweaking! )

MC, I believe I bought it at Staples. My printer was not set on draft or "best", just on normal.

Now that I've seen how pretty it is, I'm going to get some vellum tape or glue dots and start using this paper. I liked it!

Thanks for the info. We were printing on just scrapbook vellum. Apparently there is differences to how the ink dries on that stuff - must be too porous or something. I'll be on the lookout for this at Staples.
