journaling poll

I'm curious to hear what everyone's journaling technique is on their LO's. Do you use stamp, hand write, use the computer, etc. I'm going to work real hard at journaling on my pages, I seem to leave this part out. I was just wondering what everyone else does. Do you use the same technique on each page or do you do different styles depending on the LO.

I do different things. Sometimes I think my hand writing is terrible and computer journal. Other times I remember that my kids will enjoy seeing my handwriting as I do my parents, so I'll write it out. Even if I computer journal I will write next to pictures people's names and ages if appropriate. Maybe even their relationship to family like cousin, friend etc.

My hand writing is bad. It was bad before the computer but after the computer is has gotten worse. Its like if I can't type it no one is going to read it, not even me. I tend to journal on the computer and either print on the paper I want or cut it out. I have and Epson R2400 for large size things as well as a Canon i9100 and a brother laser printer (black and white) and an Epson R200. So I am pretty much covered in the printing department.

I just bought a new scanner so I can scan in funky letters and stuff from magazines to make headings as well. BTW I went with the Epson V700 flatbed scanner with dual lens system (basically a lens for paper items and one for slides and film).

I don't do true digital scrapbooking. I am always looking for creative ways to combine computer stuff with real world items. This isn't something you see covered very much. In fact I am working on a new section of my web site that will have reviews and tutorials and even a couple of videos and such on this. I hope to have it up later this year. A lot of my journaling is hidden on tags or under a flip-up photo mat. On those I always hand journal as it makes it very personal - almost as if I am talking to them through my handwriting. It doesn't matter if my handwriting is not great. My grandmother had hard to read handwriting, but after you read for a while you get used to reading it and it's not so bad. I am thrilled to own her scrapbook she kept throughout her high school years. I can almost hear her voice as I read her handwriting. Where it is seen I usually computer journal - a lot of which I do on vellum or cardstock Sandy

My approach simple.......I simply don't journal.

Different styles depending on the LO. I use both the computer and my own handwriting. I prefer the computer for the "neatness" factor and all the cool fonts but I also like to add my own handwriting here and there for future generations to see. I never thought about it until I completed a heritage album a year ago and in the layouts of my mother as an infant, I used my grandmothers' actual handwriting I found in an old baby book as the journaling. The baby book only had two pages written in so I carefully photographed the entire book, then clipped out my grandmother's handwriting and added it to the my page. It's an extra special layout because of how the journaling is applied. I added my own handwriting noting this.

But for ease and efficiency, I prefer to use the PC. I scrap at crops and craft nights then when I'm home and it's quiet, I will computer journal what I've scrapped before placing it my album.

PS - A friend of mine completes the entire album and then saves all the journaling on each layout until the end. It works for her!

I write my journaling on the computer, pick a font and color, then print it on cardstock. After I trim it I regard it as another design element on the page. Sometimes I'll even frame it like the photographs on the page.

When I have a series of related pages I will choose a common font/size/color for the journaling. That way the reader has a visual "unifier" on the pages.

I handwrite. Now that I have a 'real' 'puter I can use it for the times when I have more to say than I can fit on the page when writing. I'll continue handwriting otherwise.

I use different techniques depending on where the journaling is. A lot of mine is hidden and that I'll mostly do by hand. The journalling that shows is usually done on the computer.

I started out handwriting. But now that I've been scrapping a while. I use the computer. I don't have a computer in my scrapbook yet so I just do the pages and leave the journalling until I get a chance to go upstairs and use the computer.

My Journalling is different depending on the LO. I do alot of my own handwriting err printing. I took a caligraphy class when I was a teen and remember at least part of it, so I just try to make sure I have a quiet time and am not feeling rushed then it is usually readable. I prefer printing to writing 'cause I want my kids to be able to read their books as they learn to read and not have to wait until they learn cursive. As they get older I may include cursive although my printing is neater. I have recently started doing computer journalling occasionally. Usually for titles. I don't have a die cut machine and don't like to use Alpha stickers often. If I did they would be for the titles. I have also stamped my titles but prefer to use the computer because there is more font selection. I have recently also started to get my girls to do a bit of the journalling. I think it will be neat to look back at how their printing has changed over time.

If I am at a crop I will do the LO and leae the journalling for when I get home. I find it really hard to figure out what I want to say while visiting is happening all around. I think it is interesting to journal using different "voices" as such one of my recent LO's I asked my girls to describe one of the events we did as a family and then used that for journalling. Now if only I could get DH to be as helpful. Journalling is one of the areas that I wanted to work on improving on this year. These are some of the ideas that I have picked up. Although I think I have about 6 LO sitting waiting for journalling in order to be finished.

I hand write and use the computer for my journaling. It just depends on my mood. I always have some kind of journaling. I like the look of computer journaling, but sometimes I just don't want to have to type it in. LOL I've probably done more hand journaling than computer.

Well I usually layout my pages and forget to leave space for journaling, so most of mine is hidden. When I do remember to leave space for it, I mostly use computer journaling. I do handwrite some things, but find I can include more journaling if I use the computer.

I don't trust my spelling so I use the computer as much a possible. It also forces me to be a bit more verbose. If I'm going to take the time to use the computer, I'm going to type more than 2 words!

If it is just a name or something short, I'll hand journal.

Well...I didn't say the computer ELIMINATED my spelling problems! ;-) I too have found spelling errors months later while showing the completed album to a friend. Oh well! It adds character. Right?!
