"Mail Art"

So I needed to make a masculine thank you card for a good friend. I then decided that I should some how "jazz" it up. I couldn't think of a way, so I decided to try my hand at "mail art". I love to look at the mail art envelopes that are sent in to such magazines as Rubber Stamp Madness. I have up loaded some pictures to my account. They are in the cards album. On the masculine thank you card I used a soda tab that I embossed (love the idea!) I masked off the addresses then used versa mark and manly rubber stamps. I then chalked the entire envelope. I sure hope the recipient enjoys it......

This was incredibly easy, and loads of fun. A really great way to really make that handmade card stand out! I know I will be doing this allot more often. It really didn't take very much time. I can't wait to hear from him to see how he likes it!!!! LOL That's just awful isn't it?!

Kenda your envelope is so cool. I like the antiqued look of the envelope. The card is great too. I love that two-sided ribbon you used.

Thanks Cathy. The ribbon is some I picked up at Micheal's. I think you get a whole 3 feet on the little spool. lol The envelope was alot of fun. Something different anyway. I sure hope the recipient likes it. I'm holding my breath!

I really like that stamp too. I stamped on the back of the card, "This card is Microwave and Dishwasher safe!" LOL I got alot of really odd sayings in a grab bag I purchased. Lots of fun stuff!

Thanks Lynne. Thought I'd share it, I liked the idea of doing an envelope to go along with the card, just a little extra special.

When I was a teenager I got into stamping and decorating stationary and I always made matching envelopes. It just add that much more special-ness (is that even a word:)) to receiving mail. Nice job.

Kenda -

Wow - that's really neat! That's a very liftable idea. :) As far as being "awful" looking forward to getting feedback on your creation - not at all! You put that much effort into something, you want to know it's well received. :)

That, and I think we all like the ego strokes and Kudos, I know I do! ;)
