OT: Looking for Suggestions

Haven't had time to post much lately, but do so occasionally, so hope y'all don't mind the off topic post.

A cousin of mine in Florida near the Kennedy Space Center died suddenly last month. She was a strong supporter of their local SPCA & had 4 cats that she'd adopted from them. She made her sister (who only lives in the area part of the year) promise that if anything happened to her that she'd find homes for her beloved cats, not return them to the shelter or have them put to sleep.

If anyone here is from that area, do you have suggestions on places who might know someone wanting to adopt a cat, or perhaps know someone yourself who might?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

You can try the local PAWS or Humane Society, even check with the SPCA where she got them, to see if they can help.

Also places like "Pet Finder" or Craigslist have places where you can post animals for adoption.

Good Luck!

There are cat rescues in my area. Ones other than the SPCA. You might see if there is one in yours. When I go to Petco or Pet Smart they occasionally will be there adopting out cats. Trying to guilt me into adopting one. I can't be guilted... I'm allergic.

Contact the local animal shelter and ask if they have a program called "Friends of the Animals". I adopted my Joy from "Maumelle (a local city) Friends of the Animals" They take animals from shelters and the animals are fostered until they can find homes for them. That would be a good option of it's possible, the fostered animals are fostered by animal lovers and are well loved until a forever home can be found. I'm sorry that your cousin has to do this for her sister, it must be terribly hard.

Thanks, Kenda, Jessica & Lynne! I forwarded your suggestions on to my cousin. Good thoughts for the kitties (& my cousin) are greatly appreciated, as are any other suggestions (or if someone knows someone in the area who might be interested in one).

Alicia could you keep us posted and let us know what happens to the babies? It's a tough situation so even if they end up back where they were adopted from that's far better than being dumped somewhere (which sometimes happens with thier humans pass away). No one will judge, we're just interested in what happens to the furbabies. Kenda

Will do. Thanks for caring what happens to them, Kenda.

My cousin sent me a flyer today, so if anyone knows someone who might be interested in one of them, I can email it to you. Going from memory, they're 2-6 years old, all declawed & up-to-date with shots; 2 is female & the other 2 are male. One of the girls followed my cousin around today, starved for attention.

Wish I could take one of the males, but after flying my Tigger cross country when I moved 19 years ago, I vowed never to put another cat (or me) through that.

I wish I could help out but I have no way to get them and really have too many animals now. We'll pray that someone can give them a loving home.
