I lost one of my dearest friends and family member...my beagle mix, Mariah. She has been my baby for 7 years now. She suddenly became ill today. I still don't know what happened, but she died shortly after I came home from work. She will be greatly missed.

Thank you, Marcie. My husband was taking DSS to get his hair cut. He wanted me to go too, but when I saw how she was, I refused to go. I called a friend that worked with a vet and by the time I got off the phone, she had left us. She will always be in my thoughts, though.

Selena I am so sorry to hear about Mariah. I lost my best friend of 15 years ( Casey) 4 years ago and in time the hurt will go away, but her memories will live on forever. BIG HUGS
I lost Nixon 4 years ago to old age. He was a 100 pound boxer/matiff. What a lover pup. What helped me was I left his bed and all his nose prints on windows and such right where they were for a good year. I found it comforting. Kind of funny today my 1 year old dog wanted something under my dresser and I squeezed my arm under it barely ... found a grape Skittle and got a pinch of Nixon hair. He use to sleep close to the dresser. Warmed my heart to see it.
If anyone sends you the Rainbow bridge poem take my advice and DON'T read it for a good year. It's a touching story, but I was not prepared when my emotions were so raw. I could just be a big baby too. :D
