OT(some anyway): What are you doing today?

I've got a big day planned. Hopefully it all pans out.

First I'll be dropping my car off at the shop to have the starter replaced. Long story short, I spent Thurs & Fri after work over an hour at the shop because I had to jump my car to get home both days. We've had bitterly cold weather all week and over 12" of snow fell Wed. I already knew I was going to be needing the starter so it was no surprise. This cold weather just made it hard for the battery to power up the car w/ it bad.

I need to go to the PO and get some Chistmas stamps and get the cards I've already addressed posted, plus a few bills.

After my mom has her oil changed at 10 we're going shopping (Inclement weather has prevented this all week, and I've really been in the mood). In between shopping we'll be popping in at the lss. Today is their holiday open house. They're having eight make & takes. What fun! Four before 1 and four after 1. I figure we can hit WalMart, HL, Micheals etc in between. I'm sure I'll find something I "need" at the lss too. ;-}

When I get home the Christmas tree is still waiting to be decorated, the lights have already been strung. And maybe while I'm sitting in front of the tv tonight I can get some more cards addressed. Or some gifts wrapped. I love wrapping.

Have a great day everyone!

Sounds like a busy day planned for you Katrina! Enjoy your shopping and make-n-takes. Just becareful with all the holiday shoppers out!

I have to go up the the main fire station and make sure the company we rented tables for the Christmas party is able to get in to pick them back up. Then I'm headed out to work on a little Chistemas shopping, then I'm headed off to meet up with Deb for her stamp camp! I can't wait, I always learn such neat stuff from her! Then I will head home and wrap some gifts, hopefully put out some more Christmas decorations. We have the lights up outside and the tree up and decorated. Now the rest of the house needs to be finished. Some where in there I will be fixing supper, or I could have my budding Chef do that. Yeah, that's the ticket! LOL

Well, the day is over here and I'm glad to say that I got our Christmas tree up FINALLY. Wanted to do that for the past two weks allready. Also mailed off the last of the Christmas gifts to relatives and wrapped our own gifts to put under the tree. Now I just have to finish off the Christmas cards for our neighbours to deliver tomorrow by hand. DH also made some alterations to our X'mas lights outside this afternoon. Our whole street are decorating their houses for the first time this year! It really looks festive! The only snag is that it gets dark really late in summer here. Round about 21:30! So you have to wait patiently to view your handy work! LOL

I hope to get the tree up today. Maybe not decorated, but up. This is the year we decided to sort the ornaments. My oldest DD and DS have families and trees of their own and I have not yet shared their ornaments with them. Bad Mom! I just couldn't bear to let go. We've bought them Hallmark ornaments since they were young and with five children we have not even been able to put all of them on the tree the last couple of years. I'm still buying for the younger two who are still at home and they need the room. I think I'm going to take pictures of the ornaments before I pass them on, and do a collage LO for each of them for the Christmas album. Other than that, I have to pick up my layaway today and put the finishing touches on the clipboards for DD's teachers. I have this achey body feeling so only one trip out today. Sandy

Hi Sandy,

I know what you mean about ornaments and not wanting to give them up. I decided when the kids were young to take them out each year and let them pick out their own ornament. I put their name and year on them. I got them their own bin they keep in their rooms and they keep their ornaments in them each year. I remember when I moved out on my own I had no Christmas decorations at all and I had very little money. Once the tree was purchased that was usually it for me. It took me a few years of hand making to get enough ornaments to cover a tree. Those are my favorite ornaments. So, I figure when the kids eventually leave the nest they and take their bin of ornaments and have a start.

Wow! Sounds like you will have a busy day! I hope the weather holds out for you. My hubby has just finished the drywall for my scrap/stamp space. I am trying to keep myself busy and out of his way! I just want him to finish so I can get it all put away. I figure I will paint it when we go on winter break. :) Kelly in Fl

Well my plans did not go as planned at all! It was Catherine's 2nd b'day and we went for family pictures and she cried and screamed through them all. The white b'day cake I ordered was chocolate and the purple icing used for the trim stained everything that touched it, including fingers, teeth and any other body part she smeered with it. My b'day girl was anything but entertaining when we had family over for supper! I had my Christmas cards all ready to go, I was just going to add a family picture tommorrow and pop them it the mail BUT I have no family picture so my cards will have been late for no reason! The day is over, I'm going to bed now and I'm sure tommorrow will be better-can't be worse can it? Barb:o)

Well it took two different trips, but I finished all my Christmas shopping, or so I thought until I looked over my list again. Forgot one, well make that two, couldn't buy DD's gift since she was with me...so will have to go out again. I'm going to wait until Monday and maybe the stores won't be so busy. Now if I could just find some time to finish the Christmas cards.

I think that is a very good idea ,Lynne. I let each of my kids pick the ornaments from their childhood that meant the most to them after they were on their own. It was interesting to see what each one picked and how similar their trees all look to our own of years gone by. We are all a sentimental bunch and I love seeing them passing down to their kiddos the traditions that were dear to them.

Oh Barb! I just hate it when all the planning in the world is spoiled by a child's bad mood day!! I was thinking of you all and will wish you a happy birthday while I am thinking of it and have the time to be on line! Hope your birthday goes much better than the little one's. :-)

Wow! it sounds like a lot of us had a pretty full day.

My car is now starting fine and my bills are in the mail. The only person I got any shopping done for is myself. I know, I'm bad. Oh wait! I did find something for my grandniece. Guess I can mark at least one person off my list. 8-} The lss was fun and I learned some new stuff. I'll share that in a seperate thread though. The Chritmas tree is all decorated now and I just need to put all the boxes back in the attic.

This weeks project will be my Christmas/winter village. I don't take it down until sometime in February so I get it up kinda late. Most everyone on my village yahoo group gets theirs' up by Thanksgiving. It's rewarding to see it after all the work it takes and everyone that comes over really enjoys it too.

Have a restful Sunday everyone! I'm going to try to.

Oh! How dissapointing! I'm sorry that all your plans went down the drain. Hopefully everything will be back in order and this will make yet another great page in Catherine's album. Something to talk about and laugh about in

10 years or so!

Big hugs,

Well your today, is my yesterday, if that makes sense... and we had a VERY busy day too. My Nanna turned 80 yesterday and we had a big party for her, there were cousins, aunts, uncles etc that I've not seen for over 15yrs, some longer, and some that I've never even met. Tim was disappointed as he was expecting his mum to be there, but she did not show up. But he enjoyed the day meeting lots of new people. My younger sister and I sang a song for Nanna which really came out well... everyone was telling us how lovely it was - so that was great, it's always nice when the harmonies come together and it just WORKS!! We left the party and came home and stayed for about an hour before taking Tim out to Carols by Candlelight... it was a lovely evening. There was a genuine focus on the "true meaning of Christmas" and there were pantomimes (sp?) especially aimed at the children, the three of us had a really enjoyable evening.

This was a great idea for a post... it's always good to see what everyone is up to day to day!

luv Cec...xxx
