OT: Some GOOD news for once!

Ok, I have to share. I've been dieing to share! Ready?? DH & I are approved to buy a house!! You have to understand, we've been wanting this for a very very very long time, but we've always been turned down for lack of credit or credit issues. We've also known for several months that we needed to get out of this high rent we're paying. Well, Tuesday of this week, DH was home sick with a stomach virus and we checked out a rental house. We didn't even have the door open when DH was saying "no", it was that bad. So we came home kind of disheartened. On the way home, DH told me how he was tired of renting, etc and was ready to see about getting approved for a home loan. I said "I'm not saying God can't do it, but it would take a God sized miracle." Of course, I told him if he wanted to call someone, he could. He did. We got the word last night that we're approved. I was in shock. LOL But praise God! We're taking this one step at a time, though. Hard to do that when you're not a very patient person. LOL I'm looking forward to scrapping "Our First Home"!

Congratulations! It's a big step - but one you'll never regret. My first home purchase went very very badly - almost needed to get lawyers involved. Very ugly. But I still don't regret it. A home is the best savings account you can have, IMO.

Something I wish I had done, and you may want to try: take a camera with you when you're house hunting. I still tell stories of some of the awful properties I was shown when I was looking for my first house (I couldn't afford much). I can laugh about it now, but I wish I had pictures. I could do a whole layout and just title it "NO WAY!". LOL. But then I found my dream home (well, as dreamy as a 1000 sq foot home can get, anyway). Would have made a great second half of a two-page spread.

Good luck, and have fun!

Oh congrats!!!! Although - be prepared, once you own your own home, it is a constant project in and of itself (i've been in my condo for 7 years, and I am still moving in!) and Home Depot is suddenly your favorite store - unfortunately their scrapbooking section is limited. ;)

And - it's wonderful to know that you are no longer paying rent into nothing, but rather paying into your equity and future.

Congrats again!!!

We've made on offer on a house!!! I'm trying very hard NOT to get my hopes up, but I'm so excited. Hopefully we'll have an answer tomorrow. There's a workshop in the backyard that the owner used to build boats in. Good sized working space. It needs LOTS of work on the workshop, but......DH says once it's fixed up, it can be mine. YIPPEEE!!!! I'll have a place all my own that I can run away to and scrap, stamp, etc. In the meantime, I'll have space in the house to work in. And DH will have room to set up his computer (which has been in a box since Feb. 2004), and room for his Transformers, too. So hopefully our offer will be accepted!! Of course, it probably means I'll be moving either right before or right after the Barn, but I can handle that. :-)

Wow...that's so exciting. DH and I just bought our first house. We rented for almost 7 years, not counting the apartments before we got married. It's an exciting and scary thing. I was so nervous at the closing that I almost couldn't sign my name. We've been in the house almost 6 months..just finished painting the entry way this weekend, that was our first project besides moving in. I agree Home Depot and Lowes have become very important stores to us...Good luck...hope things go well for ya'll.

That's great Deb, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you, and of course will keep you in my prayers that you get a positive outcome!! I really like the sound of the outdoor scrappin nook, I've been toying with the idea of buying an old caravan and cleaning it out inside and decking it out as an outdoor escape!! All the best with your home, and here's to a favourable response tomorrow :o) luv Cec...xxx

Guess what! They accepted the offer! I heard from the realtor about 3 hours after I posted, but I've been busy with cleanup and a little packing. So unless something bad comes up in the inspection, we have a house!!
