OT: Sort of but something cool to play with :o)

Hi.....was browsing around and came across this

I have downloaded the Zoom Creator software (as far as I can tell it is free) and gave it a whirl. It is sooooooo cool!!!!! I just used their sample pics to print, cut and fold and I didn't do the cover bit.....but it looks real easy anyway :o) I can see it being useful for producing fast mini gift albums, baby brag books for grandma, mini books for pets, school teacher gifts, etc. even for mounting on a LO with extra photos. Within the software you can add text to photos and IRL you could add mini embellies/tags to your little pages if they were not too bulky. BTW...it says for Windows 2000 and above and there is also a Mac version.....but I have installed on Win98se and it works without any problem that I have detected so far. LOL My sheet printed on A4 photopaper but there is US size papers up to legal. Take care, Marilyn

Marilyn, This is so neat. I had just taught a class on how to make a mini album cut the same way. This is even better as the pictures are already included. I didn't have any photo paper that was the right size as 12x8.5 was needed to get the album right. So, what I did was to cut a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock to fit and printed the photos onto it. I did an album with photos of the youngest grandchild. It was easy to load the photos into the program and print them out. It looked okay with the cardstock, but I do want to get some photo paper and print the mini book on it to see the difference. Thanks for the link. Now I have a new method to include extra photos onto a LO. Sandy

Measuring approximately 3" x 3" when finished and very sweet. This also made me realise that you could make your own mini books with thin cardstock using the same principals but use this software to print the photos in the exact size, with or without frames, smaller if you want to add your own tags and stuff. I think it is cool!!

Sandy...I used the UK A4 photo paper and it worked fine for me. I know the US size is different from the UK but I think it may be your printer capability that dictates picture size or spacing. Unless you select the smaller picture option to add your own embellies! I just loaded my pics....selected the print preview...selected paper size then print...set the settings to correct photo paper type and Best Photo. I have stuck my little album in my Webshots in the Show'n'Tell folder. Here is a direct link:

I'll try to get some time to check the printer sizings with the program. You're right, it should be able to be adjusted. (Where's Robert? He figures this stuff out real fast.) I just knew at the time I wanted to try one (In a hurry of course) and I wanted it to retain the 3x3 size which meant I needed 12" of paper length to make it. It will take some playing with to learn all of the ins and outs of the program. Sandy

Made a sample similar to this at the scrapbook convention this summer.

It was at the Sissix booth. We used regular scrapbooking paper (thin stuff, not the cardstock), then did the folding and put it under the giant sissix thingie (they were advertising it)with a shape diecut (I chose oval) and it punched out the centers--then, since the pages weren't glued together, you could slip a wallet sized photo in there (front and back). Then just used a tape runner to attach the pages to a hard (cardstock) bookcover. Turned out pretty cute, and easy too! Oh, and after putting the pictures in I used little adhesive tabs to connect the pages so the pictures wouldn't fall out. I think you could probably put some clear plastic up there too to protect the pictures as well!

I liked the idea of using the designer paper, instead of just the plain white background. I'll takes some pictures if I get a chance.

It looks great Marilyn! I love how you did the front, especially the corners. Looks like you have yourself a new toy. LOL

Thanks Deb! The corners are done with gold Ultra Thick Embossing Powder.....but I think it gives the mini book a sort of old book look ;o)

Marilyn, What a cute little book! I downloaded that software and it is fun to work with! I can see potential Christmas gifts in the future!! I printed out a test one, and my photo paper wasn't quite long enough. I may use the 12x12 cardstock and cut it down to 8.5"x12 so that the pics all get printed. I didn't get as far as the cover, but this is really cool! Thanks again! :-) Linda

Linda...just a thought on this. I can do a user defined size in my printer settings. Why not try that and see if it will show up in the the paper size list when you run the print preview. HTH

I love it Marilyn!!! It is just too cool. BTW, I wouldn't call it "OT" as it is a scrapbook! Looks like you had fun making it.

Thanks Kenda. I used the OT because it was software to download rather than paper supplies! I think it will be great for quick projects :o)
