April, So glad you are having Dave over I know that will enliven your holiday! We are spending it with our youngest. First time I have not made dinner in many many years. I will bake and take my "famous" pumpkin pie.LOL It will be her first time to have everyone to her house. Usually they come here. Looking forward to just being a guest!

I have to work so looks like I'll be in town. DH and the boys are going to his Aunt's house in LR for dinner. (maybe they'll bring me a plate of goodies!) Then on Friday we're going over tosome friend's house for Thanksgiving dinner.

My DS and his GF are flying in at noon on Thursday and staying till Sunday. We'll have turkey and I'm not sure what else. She is a vegitarian, so I need to find a couple of "easy" dishes that we can make for her. The tradition is Trivial Pursuit and Irish Coffee follows the meal.

I hope that you have a nice Thanksgiving :) Good that you get to see Dave.

We are going over to DH's parents house for Thanksgiving. That's where we always go.

We are going to Grand Island, NE. It's about 2 1/2 hours from here. DH has several aunts, uncles and cousins living there. They decided to all get together for Thanksgiving so we are going. Yes, his parents will be there so y'all say a little prayer for me. She is a mean person and never passes up the opportunity to give me a verbal jab. I think there will be enough people there so I can avoid her without making it too obvious.

Here is wishing you luck both in avoiding her and if that's not possible in finding the patience required to deal with her!

About 2 blocks away to my mom's. :-) But- the catch is this year I am going to be doing the cooking. She had eye surgery about a week ago and they really limited what she can do for 3 weeks. No lifting more than 20 lbs, no walking farther than the mailbox, no this and no that, etc...

It won't be the first turkey that I am cooking, but the first one that mom will taste. Wish me luck!

I am not really sure what we will be doing. I normally host....my MIL passed the torch to me several years ago ( and taught me how to make everything) Last year I made the big meal as usual ( normally a 25-28 lb turkey ) and guess what....no one but my MIL showed up. Everyone, I guess , decided to make other plans without informing us. So this year I am not really into it. Kinda killed it for me, ya know? Plus the fact that things are really tight money wise. I would rather spend the money on Christmas. We have been told that my BIL and his wife want to host this year...but when I e-mailed the family for more info there was no reply. So, who knows. I will probably make a modest thanksgiving for the three of us here at home.

we alternate years. This year we stay near home and visit hubby's family. Last year (and next year) we drive 2 hrs to my parents and spend Thanksgiving with my family.

Cecelia, I wlll pray that she is too busy to be throwing jabs that day. I used to have that same problem and dreaded every encounter with my MIL. She always got everthing accross so sweetly that only she and I knew she was being nasty. Well, DH knew but really could not say anything. She is no longer with us and it is strange but she seems not to be missed . Maybe I was not the only one she did that to. Hang in there, dear.

It's been kinda a crazy year for my family - so it's gonnabe pretty low-key - just be me and the folks, and maybe my BF. As long as there are plenty of Mashed Potatoes and Oyster Stuffing I'm happy!

I'm have dinner at our house this year. We usually go to my sisters, but she asked if I wanted to have it this year. It was fine with me considering we have to drive 1 1/2 hours to get to any of our relitives house. And I will get to have all the left overs at my house. Now that's what thanksgiving is all about. LOL.

It will be an unusual Thanksgiving for me this year. My DH and DS will not be here. This is a first since I was married 23 yrs ago. They will be hunting in Wyoming (our graduation present to DS) and my DD and I will go to my dad's. This will be their 1st Thanksgiving in their new home.

BTW, great thread April! S

Since I'll be at work I decided to fix a "mini-thanksgiving dinner". I will be the only "regular" crew member at my station for the next 3 weeks so I'll just be fixing for me. I think I'll bake a cornish game hen, I'll have stuffing, since I'll have already fixed it for Friday (TG dinner with friends) a little corn casserole, and some candied yams. Then think I'll have DH bring me some dessert from the family get together. (I was feeling depressed about it as I really don't like to work the holidays, usually isn't so bad when you have your regular crew, they're like family and we usually fix us a meal. But it's hard to plan not knowing who'll be there....Soooo, decided that I'd just do for me, instantly picked up my mood! I do ,after all, have loads to be thankful for. YEAH!!!!)
