Outlook Express help

I read the NG through outlook express using terranews as my server. For the past week I have been unable to get any messages. It shows there are zero messages, but I know there are because I go to google and see them. So I reset the headers and it shows there are 499 messages, 0 downloaded. So , anyone out there know what I am doing wrong?

I wish I could help you. From the sounds of it, you right clicked on the newsgroup name in the folders list and went down to properties, then reset the group. I just did the same to see what would happen and I got 269 messages, 268 read and 18435 not downloaded. What happens when you click on the 'headers' icon? Nothing?

I don't know about terranews, but I do know about earthlink and perhaps it might help you. twice in the past couple years earthlink has changed the name of the server for email and news. I'll go 2 days not getting any mail or news thinking the problem is me. Then when I contact earthlink they have me put a slightly different name for the server in and everything works great. So, you might check their web page and look up what info you need to use terranews or contact them by email or phone to make sure they haven't changed anything.

Open outlook and then go to tools.Click on Get next 300 headers. That will load the next 300 messages. See if this is what you are looking for. Irene

I am getting so frustrated. I e-mailed them a couple days ago...heard back today. It was a big e-mail, with much more info than I needed...but it seems as they have been redoing everything. I need to delete all messages cahed ( ok, did that) then delete the server and resubmitt it ( ok, did that too ) now resub to my newsgroups, and all should be fine. Nope , didn't work. I got 1 new message. It was Sabrina's message about spreading the word about scrapbooking...no replys, just her original post . That was it. It seems there are more problems for their free server in the future. Sigh...anyone know of a good and reliable free server?''
