RCS Oklahoma Meet - A Great Success

Yesterday morning at 8:58 am central, Kenda and I pulled up at Dave's place in Oklahoma City. Tumbling out the door came Dave, Ronni and Katrina, soon joined by April and her DH and the cowchipper mobile. Everything good you have ever heard about Dave is true. He is a wonderful, thoughtful and considerate man who is also a wonderful host. After making sure we got pictures of each other and the group and spending time exchanging goodies and looking at each other's scrapbooks (my these people are so talented!) we got into Kenda's van and the cow mobile and went down to the OKC National Memorial. How terrible and wonderful that place is. There are no words adequate enough... to describe the place that I had watched on CNN as events unfolded back on April 19th, 1995. It is not an easy place to visit, yet it is a place that reminds one of how horrible and how wonderful people can be to each other.

We left the magnificent and moving memorial and went on to see the origins of OKC, the Oklahoma National Stockyard. This was of course followed by a stop at a scrapbook store, BTW thanks Dave for the wonderful tag and the paper that you snuck into my bag; they are great! I think I'll use the OKC paper to scrap the stokyard pictures I took and the tag to head off the whole trip during which Kenda and I managed to visit 7 different scrapbook stores. But I am sure Kenda will have more to tell you about that!

After a wonderful meal at a Mexican Restaurant, Kenda and I took Katrina back to her car at Dave's and then drove back to Little Rock as Kenda was starting her 24 hour shift at 7AM this morning.

How lucky I have been to meet these members of RCS! Just like the FL ladies that I met in Orlando during Shelley's visit there, Barb Quilts, Deb in AR and Renee, each person is very different, but all are without exception, talented in this hobby but more importantly, at least in my opinion, each person is great at living life with kindness and gusto and a desire to share their talents and hobbies with others. The more members I meet, the more glad I am to have been welcomed by all of you here at RCS.

I'll let Kenda and the others tell you what else we did. Please go to my webshot account (RCS Oklahome Meeting) to see some of the pictures I took. I'll post more later. I'll also post smaller versions of the pictures for those with webTV in the next couple of days.

Thank you M-C for sending in the details of the meet. It's so much fun to hear about RCSers meeting. Maybe one day we can have a California meet. :) BTW how is your husband doing? Last I read he was gingerly going back to work.

Thanks MC for sharing your adventures about the OKC meet. This truly is a special group of people here at RCS and I'm so glad I have got to meet those I've met.

Now I want to hear more about these 7 different scrapbooking stores! Come on, spill it! :-)

Thanks for asking, Lynne. DH is still experiencing the same problem as before the surgery. He is seeing a new GI doc here in Little Rock. So we are are now unsure as to whether or not he really needed the gallbladder taken out at all. :(

Hopefully they will figure out what is going on sometime soon! Fortunately he doesn't seem to be getting worse, but it is wearing on the spirit and nerves.

LOL It did take forever! But I have to see anything pertaining to this great family. Made me homesick to have a get together. We would have a bang-up family re-union. LOL

I agree with you M-C the OKC meet was a great success! It was wonderful to meet with Dave, Katrina, April and Ronni. Dave it was so good to see you again. Thank you for sharing your home (and furbabies) with us. You were a wonderful host.

Dave what did the neighbors think when they heard us outside being so loud and standing by a cow mobile, with a cow? Ronni, you looked great in the costume! When I showed DH the cow spot I stole (that you signed April) he just shook his head and asked if the whole trip was like that. But of course it was! We had a great time, and it didin't last long enough! I'm sorry we didn't get to visit and shop longer....but another time.

I am simply amazed at the talent of everyone on this group. And to get to meet these talented people is wonderful! The pictures on the web do not do their LO's or other projects justice. The LO's they shared and altered books, c.d.'s ect were wonderful! I needed the inspiration to get me motivated again. Thanks to everyone! It was alot of fun to look at everyone's albums.

7 scrapbook stores in 2 days!! heehee, it was heaven!!!! We went to left NLR midmorning on Friday and started for Tulsa. M-C had made a list of scrapbooking stores and had directions from one to the next! She was a wonderful navigator! We shopped and looked and purchased stuff that we can't find around here....just wait though when you move here there are some scrapbooking stores open that weren't here when you lived in LR.....

sounds like you guys had a great time. The pictures were great - one question - did anyone wear the costume to the stockyards?? Loved the pictures of the OKC National Memorial - so touching in different ways.
