SCRAP_RETREAT in Rogers, AR....LONG

well, I finally get a bit more time to do something. I am up early this morning so here goes.

I left Thursday at about 4:30pm and headed to Dave's house in OKC. I got there and he was waiting for me. We talked about a few crafting ideas and I left a few ideas for him and redid a step by step sampler for him. Next morning while watching the Oasis of the Seas pull into port we got ready to head out. We left and it was nice outside. I actually stayed awake all the way to Tulsa. We stopped at a scrapbook store there and shopped away...... my first chunk for the weekend. We got scrapbucks for the sale but we donated them to someone that might need it more then us. Also we wouldn't be there for that day of they're sale anyway.

Next we went to The Cheesecake factory to eat. Well, we only ate appeitizers(sp?). Dave ordered corn fritters, I ordered spinach/artichoke dip and chicken potstickers. All were excellent. When we finished Dave ordered a pumpkin cheesecake and a pumpkin pecan cheese cake slice to go. We left and headed to AR. We arrived at the hotel at about 2:30pm. We started to unload and KAtrina arrived. We had a lot of stuff to unload. While Dave did that I got our room. We had the same room as last time we were there. Big and spacious. Linda brought a crafted drink cup with our names on it, and Katrina brought a nice COW clip for me and worked on fisihing Daves before he left. These were very nice and thoughtful of them both. Linda even threw in a tiny cow ice cream scoop in my cup. It was cute! Thanks again Linda.

3pm and Croppin train weekend started. Dave dissapeared several times. Linda and Sandy arrived and I didn't see them right away, Dave did. We all settled in and talked most of the first evening away. Only Linda and Sandy managed to talk and work at the same time. I worked on Christmas cards and only did
  1. Only the girls got to see my secret Christmas cards. Dave missed out! poor thing. Linda and Katrina were enjoying Sandy's Expression cricut machine. I had everyone of my 47 cartridges with me. I also bought one while I was there. They had lots of stuff in the store and rock bottom prices. Dave and Sandy got the new snowflake cartridge for .... good buy. I enabled them as I already had it and showed them the wonderful snowflakes it had on it. Supper was spaghetti and fettichini alfredo. Salad was weeds, with cucmbers and tomatoes. We left to go to the scrapbook store across the parking lot. Huge store and lots of inventory. Beautifully made up too. They stayed open late for us. Back to the hotel to scrap more till we dropped. They called out prizes and everyone but Sandy got one that night. more the next day. Dave was first as he always go to bed early. I stayed up last till about 3.

Saturday morning was the hotel breakfast. We ate early as we were told of a scrapbook garage sale going on across the parking lot at the scrapstore. We all loaded in my truck and went shopping. We all got something. Dave and I treated Linda for her Birthday, which is Thanksgiving Day for those who don't know. My hubby's is thanksgiving Day too. I am sure we all got some good buys there. Before we took off over there I was in the hotel gift shop and saw a tiny what I thought was a chipmunk ty beanie baby. Well it was a BEAVER. I bought it for Dave. He was teased all the way up till I dropped him off Sunday night. It was his reminder of his weekend with all us girls!!. We called it Becky Jinna...... thus B.J. Beaver. His 4" brown hairy Beaver for himself. LOL. Lunch was deli sandwiches but I bought Chic-fil-a. Dave and I went to Walmart cause I needed a new laptop. My cord for my Dell went out and no where to get one there. I got a Toshiba with windows 7 home premium and was connected to the hotel wi-fi right away. I watched my soap operas I missed for Friday and watched the new episodes of V while crafting away. Supper came prety fast for us. We had a build a taco buffet. delicious!!!! I joked with the guy behind the buffet about black olives for my taco and he surprised me with a small dish of them. I surprised him back with a folded star from a dollarbill. I went back for 2 more tacos and he again came to me with more black olives. too cool. Back to the scraproom and you get tickets for having the balloons at your table when the timer goes off, you do a layout, winning the layout contest etc. There were lots of things to enter your tickets for. Drawings were that night then again noon Sunday before we left. I asked about the T-shirt design contest that I entered and there were only 2 people that entered. She gave me a T-shirt for free for entering.

Sunday we had hotel breakfast again. I had repacked most of my stuff the night before and was playing with my new Wild West cartridge for a few hours before we were going to leave. DAve brought everythign back to the truck. Drawings began and Sandy hit the jackpot with 2 ATG guns and a few other things she entered drawings for. I got a few things, and I guess Katrina and Linda won something too I was tired and don't remember if they won or not. We then said our goodbyes and headed our own way by 1pm. we left with LOTS more then we came with. Several goodies we were given during the weekend too!

Arrived in OKC with Dave and we stopped at the Cracker barrel in which I have never been. I was delicious too!. When we left I had a bigger BEAVER to give him but he didn't want it and said give it to Darrell. I also swear it was snowing when we left the restaurant.

I got home and gave the beaver to Zen along with a pink tiny dragon. When it was time for bed she had the beaver and asked her daddy if he wanted it to have it to sleep with. Her daddy said "no, you can sleep with it" she said "but daddy, it's your beaver!" I was sitting in the office loading the computers and burst out laughing. What a way to end a wonderful scrapbooking weekend.

Next retreat is in March. We have all planned for the Nov retreat 2010 to all go again. Save your money and Join us. Ask Linda, Katrina or Sandy.... They enjoyed the weekend too!

I have been meaning to write a summary of our retreat as well, but work and Andrew's basketball practices and games just wouldnt let me!!! So here I am. On Thursday I got up at 3 AM Illinois time and left at 4 AM to drive down to Sandys house and pick her up. She is an hour ahead of me. I ran Sandy on a couple of errands and away we went! We wanted to get an early start on the road to get to our next stop in Little Rock, Arkansas. I had never been to Arkansas. The weather was beautiful!! We were surprised to notice that they grow cotton in Arkansas. All you ever see in Illinois is Corn, soybeans or wheat. Lunch was a nice little picnic lunch at a truck stop. It was a nice break from the traveling. I had to take a picture of a sign we saw on a gas station door. "NO shirt, NO shoes, NO service. THIS IS A CRACK FREE ZONE..Pull up your pants or you will be asked to leave!" OMG how funny was that!? LOL We arrived in Little Rock right before dusk, got checked in our motel, and went in search of a Red Lobster or Olive Garden as I had a gift card to use up, but no luck there, so we found an Outback Steakhouse and thoroughly and selfishly enjoyed a delicious Blooming onion, steak with Lobster and mushroom sauce (YUM-O!!), a baked sweet potato, and salad. Sandy got some yummy scallops to go with her steak.

We checked out of the motel the next morning and had plans to meet three of our RCS members, Kenda, Cyndi Anne, and Deb at the Cracker Barrel near our hotel for breakfast. It was really great to finally meet Kenda and Cyndi and see Deb again. We hogged the table til about lunchtime, eating and talking and.... well mostly talking...I hope the waitress wasnt too mad! A very nice employee came out and took our pictures in front of the restaurant. Kenda kept telling everyone to "Pick your nose!!" when it came time to smile for the camera. Silly Kenda!! LOL

We drove another three hours and arrived in Rogers between 3 and

3:30. I think I scared the crap out of Dave when I saw him walking across the drive at the hotel, and I honked at him and was wildly waving to get his attention!! Dave was a sweetie as he always is and helped us unload all of our stuff and take it in the hotel. We got all checked in at the sign in table, and made our lanyard nametags and got settled in for a night of scrapbooking! I dont remember what time we headed for bed..1:00 am I think. Sandy and I shared a room with Katrina . The room was really nice and roomy and on the 6th floor. Had a mini fridge, microwave, sink in it. None of us TOUCHED the giant $4 water bottles that were available in the fridge..Geez..its only water, folks. Free from the tap..LOL

Dinner was really good Friday night. I love pasta and garlic bread! I had to laugh when I read Aprils description of the salad, only because I totally agreed with her. WEEDS!!....I don't eat salad spinach and thats what it looked like to me too...LOL I didn't buy a whole lot at the scrapbook store, because of the rummage the next day. It was really nice of them to stay open later for us.

Breakfast Saturday morning was awesome..my favorite meal of the day! It was provided by the hotel and it was buffet and they also had a line for made to order omelettes and pancakes. So we scrapped for a bit after breakfast and headed over to the "secret" rummage sale. Only it wasn't a secret...LOL It was packed. I picked up a few things that caught my eye, and April was SO generous and bought my purchases for me at the rummage for my birthday! Then we went outside to wait for the others to finish. Dave snuck back in and bought me the other thing I had my eye on but I didn't get it. OMG you guys are awesome!! Thank you so much! It really meant a lot to me!

We had fun finishing layouts and stealing the balloon bouquet from others just as they finished stealing it from someone else, and we collected our tickets for the drawing items, I ended up winning a chipboard tag set. There was a guy there from Provo Craft, demonstrating the Cricut Expression, and someone also demonstrated Glimmer Mist. April graciously shared her Cricut cartridges with us..what a selection she had! okay..Now I want a cricut of my own.

The dinner taco buffet was good, and the ONE DOLLAR Happy Hour Margaritas were even better! haha..I think I had two and finished Aprils too. They went great with the tacos! We stayed up late again, and the Croppin Train hosts ordered pizza late in the evening for those who wanted it. They left everyone a plain white metal lunchbox at their place at the tables as a gift. Sandy and I decorated ours that night. That was a first for me..fun to make too! The whole beaver thing with Dave was just too funny! He was really a good sport about it, because we teased him about it the whole time..LOL I think the other ladies at the crop were jealous we had Dave with us because he was so entertaining and helpful with the loading and unloading! Awesome breakfast again the next morning..lots of coffee, and finished a couple more layouts before cleaning up, and we waited for the final prize drawings before we headed home. The weather was awful all the way to St. Louis, rain rain rain..HEAVY rain. All I saw of Missouri was trucks, interstate, the car in front of me, and rain! Sandy and I were calling family to check weather radar for us, it was so bad. So, naturally it took longer to get home. Sandy and I talked all the way home, and it really kept me awake! We arrived at Sandys after midnight, I was really tired, and I just couldnt drive the 3 more hours to get home, so I crashed on her couch til Monday! I am SO glad I did. Thanks Sandy! I got to meet her kids while I was there and she showed me around her scrapbook room and some of her work. She is so talented!! :) U finally got home around 11:00 am. Kids and hubby really missed me AND the dishes were washed when I got home!! LOL So all in all I had a really great getaway weekend. I would like to do it again next November!

Great friends. Great food .Good times!! For those of you on Facebook, I have pictures there of our trip!
