So excited! But need your advice..

I am FINALLY getting a good cutting machine (Cricut Expression or Silhouette SD) when our income check arrives, hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday. Knowing my luck the check will get lost in the mail! lol

Could anyone that has either of these machines tell me if you like it or if you wished you would have gone with the other?

I'm still going back and forth between the Cricut and the Silhouette...

I love the fact that with the Silhouette SD I can download free cutting files off the web. I googled "free GSD files" and found loads of them on the web! Comparing this to the price of Cricut cartridges leaves the Silhouette a no brainer!

But...The drawback to me is that the Silhouette only cuts 8 1/2 and the Cricut cuts 12". I'm wondering if that is going to effect what I can do on layouts..

I would love your feedback! I so want to make the right decision!

Thanks! Barb.

YOu can also download free files for the cricut. I just got one about 3 weeks ago and love it. It's just plug in and go. You can hook it to your computer. They also have a software Sure cuts a lot that you can design your own files or use any font thats out there.

I love my Cricut and I have downloaded dozens of free files from the Cricut board and on various blogs devoted to the Cricut but you would have to buy the Cricut Design Studio to use them. I also have Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) which enables me to use svg files or to make my own using Inkscape. SCAL also lets you use any true type font on your pc including dingbats. The prices of cartridges have gone way down as well, I have 38 of them and I got most of them from ebay for less than $30 shipped.

I don't know much about the Silhouette sorry.
