Tips and Challenges - September CCC

September - Double check with the post office about extra charges for mailing. The reason I say this is last year I was charge extra postage for the thickness of my cards. I had used a ribbon and knotted it. The knot made my cards more than 1/4 inch in thickness. I believe 1/4 inch was the measure. The postal clerk had an official piece of cardboard with a slot cut in it and mail had to fit through this. Mine did not. Then I got worried as I had mailed some of my cards with the drive by mailbox. I was worried that my Christmas wish was going to include "Postage Due!" Nobody received that message from the few I asked. So, I say check the thickness of your cards and the weight and make sure proper postage gets charged. That way your Christmas wish will be a beautifully made card not a bill from the post office.

Challenge - Try something shiny or sparkly.

We'll take Judy's lead and let's try making our cards with a little sparkle and/or shine. Use shiny paper... use a little glitter... can be a major part of the card or just a little accent.

I boxed up some more last night and when I cleaned off one of the shelves I found a box of red, white and green Christmas envelopes I had forgotten all about. I think they were from Joann's on clearance after Christmas last year. Now I don't have to go out and buy some for my cards.....as long as I don't forget where I put them this time. I'm finding all kinds of things I had forgotten all about.

Great news Sandy! Get a shoe box and put all your cards and envelopes together. Then write on the outside of the box "Christmas Cards!"

The clear storage boxes are very nice for this purpose and are very cheap too. I love those things.

I put mine in a kitchen drawer when we moved so I wouldn't lose them. Well, Brian just found them last night. He opened the drawer and I knew when he yelled at me. LOL. He doesn't understand. =D
