What items do you wish you'd not bought...

Ok, I'm planning on starting a scrapbook and I don't want to buy a bunch of stuff I won't use. I just want to know what scrapbooking supplies you bought that you wish you'd never wasted your money on. I've got so many crafty items like that.

Also what is the best and most useful item you've bought for your scrapping?

Thank you.

I'm with the other poster that said the decorative scissors. I'm glad I bought mine on sale, and didn't get many of them!

Worst - Again, those decorative scissors, glad they were only a dollar a piece! Best - Small paper trimmer from Fiskars, corner rounder from CM. Alphabet (brushstroke) from Stampin'Up! My Navigator and Paper Taker from Crop-in Style.

Good Luck! Brandi

The blade runner... people say it takes practice... I can't get it to do a thing. I want my tools to be easy for me to use. Forwhatever reason, it never follows the path I want it to take. It I am making a circle, I end up with a dented jellybean sort of thing. LOL. I tried holding it different and everything... just can't get it to work for me.

Oh, my best purchase, over and over again, is Bazzill cardstock. They are thick and come in so many colors that I can do an infinite number of different monochromatic layouts (my favorite to do).

Not so best purchase - cutesy 8.5 x 11 paper. Lovely designs and great colors, but I never seem to use them unless they have a repeating pattern that I can cut up and use as a matte somewhere. But those with one large picture - they just sit pretty in my paper sorter.

Great question!!

I have to agree, I don't like my blade runner either. It just sits in my box. However, the glass matte for it, I use ALL of the time with my exacto.

Good thread.

*Decorative scissors (other than deckle or antique) *punches (except for basic shapes) *stickers (buy as you need, I don't use much as far as *stickers right now) *patterned paper (again, buy on an "as needed" basis only) *shape templates or cutters--rarely do I use an oval anymore

Yep thats it -- i love it --- especially for letters for titles and pp pieces - you dont get glue all over the place or have to try and glue in hard to get at places

Cotton pickin' templates, ESPECIALLY those little thin as paper ones!!! AAARRRGGHHH! I hate them! I am more into color blocking and find that normal shaped pictures are my liking, like squares, circles, ovals and rectangles.

Best thing - PAPER!! I really do hate going to lss and stores. I HAVE to go look at paper, though the draw to it at WalMart, Hobby Lobby andregular stores is waning. They never have anything new and it is generic.

I am totally I paper gal...I love all different kinds of paper, but the best is a real thick 12x12 cardstock for background I can't do with out that. I also like tags and boarders.

I am not to into premade stickers and the 8 1/2x11 paper with 1 big pic on it if it's 81/2x11 it has to be plain so I can cut it up!

i seem to kind of go through phases where i use my new products all the time...then when i get something new, i don't use that at all anymore, and start with something new. for example, when i got my corner rounder, i rounded everything that would stand still long enough. now, though, i always end up going with squared corners, and don't even take my corner rounder to crops anymore. i went through the dry embossing phase, a glitter and tinsel phase, etc., all the same. however, the products that i always always always have to have: cardstock. any and all fiskars 12" cutter fiskars microtip scissors CM adhesives

things i wish i hadn't bought at all: CM paper trimmer coluzzle cutting system allllll those stickers decorative scissors

good luck in purchases! when it comes to knowledge about scrap-shopping, you've come to the right place on this group!! lori shay louisville
