A Trixie Bag

For DGD, who is just turning 12. The cover photo in blended pastels is very appealing, but I decided to go for bright and upbeat. She has only one more scheduled chemo session...we're praying that no more will be necessary.

I made it a tad smaller than the pattern (by Purse Strings), with five ruffles instead of six. As obvious from the 'inside' picture, the binding cut as directed is a little too wide. I should do that over again, but just can't bring myself to pick it out. Manipulating all those thicknesses has already done a number on my hands.

What a gorgeous bag, Doreen. Great job, she is sure to love it.

Sending positive thoughts that your DGD will no longer need the chemo after this one is done!

Dear Doreen

I nearly wept when I looked at your bag. She'll love it, because your love shows in its making.

I'll be adding my prayers as well. That is just a darling bag! I am sure that will bring a huge smile to her face. Lovely work.

What a beautiful bag, looks like a fun one for a 12 YO, especially. My prayers are with all of you that this will be the last treatment. I have a friend who was diagnosed with lymphoma, about the same time her DGD had to have surgery to repair a hole in her heart, so she didn't tell any one. But the greatest thing is, it is either cured after some chemo or it is in complete remission. And the DGD has recovered, she was 13 months at the time of the surgery, and is only 17 months now. Thanks, Irene! She loves ruffles, so this should be just her style.

Beverly,

Exactly right. Ruffles cut on the bias and folded double. I couldn't tell from the picture on the pattern when I ordered it, and knew by the time it arrived I'd be pressed for time, so asked my Bernina dealer to get a 4mm rolled hem foot for me, just in case. Oh well, I'll need it for something else eventually. :)
