My Janome was AUD 200 2 years ago, the "economy" model, that does not do much apart from straight and zigzag.

The Husqvarna Emerald 183 is quoted as AUD 800, with quilting, letters, computerised etc...the whole (scary) she bang.

In the meantime, I have decided to use the money to get a sewing cabinet instead, since space is at a premium in our home, and I have young (2 years and 8 mths) children underfoot. So a cabinet that stores my stuff safely and is childproof, and can fold away in the living room when not in use seems a better choice at the moment.

I laid out and cut a pattern for a dress last night on the floor and after an hour, my back was aching! Our dining table is not big enough, and we have no other large tables...

So I figure, I shall make do with my Janome, and see how I go, and then th> imaan wrote:

This is an EXCELLENT idea, and when you are ready for the move up to the better machine, you certainly will have a far better idea of what you want. Enjoy!
