Hey all,
Halloween costumes all done. :) Well...for the kids anyway. ;)
DS will be wearing Quidditch robes. Made him a hooded robe in red and gold flannel. Won't that be nice? Planned costumes around "Normal" southern Indiana October weather. Usually cold here. The high for tomorrow is 78 they are saying. So, I douse the boy in deodorant. LOL!! Oh almost forgot. I looked at patches to sew on the robes. In the movie, they had patches showing which house they were from on the robes, where a breast pocket would be. I found some that would work. But they were running close to $20. That's out of bounds for the costume budget around here. So I used my new embroidery machine and made a badge with a large gold G on it. :) Works just fine thank you ever so. :) I was thrilled with that.
DD said she wants to be a "vampire queen" this year. Okey dokey. Made her dress from black and red panne velvet. Yeah, she gets doused with deodorant too. Used McCall's 4151 view B. We didn't do the collar thing since it wouldn't have worked with the panne. I did some beading around the cuffs just to give it a little more panache.
I decided I wanted a costume too. So I'm still working on that one. I used the rest of the black panne. Made an empire waist, scoop neck gown with short sleeves. Then I took some shiny gray chiffon (this was a $1 table find from a few years ago) to make big drapey sleeves. Going to do some beading on there too just for fun. I'll post pictures later in the weekend and I'll let everyone know. :)
OH! We got a cable modem. I'm so excited. New email address for me:
