Some years ago, i needed some `big loops cotton net`, for one of my art projects. bought half a metter, used only part of it , and there it was, on my desk while i was cutting a white [Indian Cotton] shirt ,,, I ended up , cutting the neck opening a bit lower than usual, and inserting a piece of the net there to keep it in place .. Hadn`t i needed that net piece , it would have never occured to me to use it in my shirt as well.
Same goes with ribbons etc,, i have a whole collection of ribbons that came off chocolates etc,,,,
I embroidered a tiny wall piece for a friend`s 70 birthday, on the work i attached embroidered all kinds of symbols related to his life,,, One of my best symbols was a Clothing tag of a certain company , that printed under the name [ which i folded away] the wonderful words `Great Company `,,,,,,The friend liked it.
At times i feel like a collector hunter, i go out and use what i can find, in my way , but it is out there. We only have to look and imagine what we can do with it ,,
After i used many Doilies [ crocheted , embroidered etc] that i found in my late mother`s house and my late MIL`s house and used part in an Exhibition. People started giving me bags with doilies, of all sorts. Thus latter i made a Lampshade with FFcrochet in colored cottons . And i use them as best as i can ,,, I clean them , invite friends to take the whole ones and use them , but i also recycle and use the cut parts .. mirjam
