This is for the waitress at a local restaurant who saw my niece wearing her coat. :) The gal hasn't come to pick it up yet. If it's alright with her, I will add pictures of it on her when she comes to get it.

You must be going through multiple cones of serger thread! I hope these are paying their way.

That one is gorgeous! I didn't get to see the green one, though; facebook remained firm and demanded that I must register which I will not do if I can avoid it. Anyway, I think I might try one of them one of these days, too. It's just too tempting, this play with serger and old sweaters.
U. - thanks for the inspiration!
really cute! i'd love one!
lol We talked about that. She said she wanted it on the back and she understands that the hood will cover it most of the time. She loved the hood on my niece's coat.
Yeah, I'm using quite a bit. This is a paying job. The green one, my DSIL paid the material cost on it (I hate charging my family labor so I just don't do it. They are good about not asking for too many jobs.) I really enjoy these too. So if they turn into more paying jobs, that would be alright. :)

Thank you!!!

They are soooo much fun to do. You ought to do one for your little girl! That wouldn't take very much time. And wouldn't she be far, far too cute in one!?!?!?! I have seen pictures of some done for children out of sweatshirts rather than sweaters. The little girls they were made for have very sensitive skin and wool makes them itch. But they can wear sweatshirts just fine. They were darling!!
Oh, you're so welcome!!! That's the best part of this group. We all keep each other stitching right along. :)

really cute! i'd love one!
Thank you very much!! You would have a blast making one, Betsey! But be forewarned, they are kind of addicting. Very easy sewing, no pattern matching (well I match the bands on the sleeves and hood, but.......so really easy matching. lol) It's amazing how quickly they come together too. It goes from a pile of unwanted, unloved sweaters to a coat in about a day.

If I may make a suggestion, register a new email account with a web-based service, like yahoo or gmail, then use it to open a Facebook account. Use a pseudonym if you like, some people even open accounts in a pet's name. Then don't use any of the Facebook apps, including games. I also keep the address book for my email account empty since I have no need for it and it's only a vulnerability in case of hacking.
do you have directions??? i might be game to try this! (or then i'll just give up and pay you!).
you're doing great work!
It's beautiful! I'm going to get that tutorial; I really want to make one of these now that I've seen your coats....and blue is one of my favorite colors!

Here's a link to the tutorial that I got:
LOL!!!! We could certainly work something out if it comes to that point. lol
Thanks! They really are a ton of fun to do. And I really do enjoy taking sweaters that were donated (unloved, unwanted) and making something fun and useful out of them. It makes for an appealing project on many levels.

It's well worth the $9. Easy to follow, and fun. Lots of great pictures in there too.
Thank you for the kind words too. :) I really liked this last coat a lot. Blues and periwinkles and just a touch of purple here and there. It was a peaceful feeling blend of colors.
Now, this week I move on to swimming suits!!! (not out of recycled sweaters however. lol)
Sharon
She does mention swimsuits in her tutorial Sharon!! The mind boggles. I am waiting for Vide Grenier season to begin so I can start my sweater search. Claire in Montreal .FRANCE
