and serger makes 8

;) Kate, am I catching up to you??? lol

I got the serger. It's a "Bernette" for Bernina FunLock 006D. Pretty basic, but I've put it through its paces and it looks to be a workhorse. Which is precisely what I was after. :) Best thing I like so far is that all I have to do to switch to a rolled hem is shorten the stitch length and slide the little lever back. Really cool. (Love my White, make no mistake, but changing out the stitch plate can be a PITA.) Have made one decision though, I will try my best to only thread it by tieing on. It's a piece of work to thread. Not horrible, but I found my tongue sticking out the corner of my mouth several times and I'm pretty sure I was scowling a good bit too. lol Very much a basic machine, but I could not be happier with it.

Would have bought the Necchi she had too. However, the paper misprinted her ad. The paper said she was asking $25 for it. She actually wants (and really should get, it's a very nice machine) $125 for it. So I told her I would pass on that for now. She did tell me that if she doesn't sell it in a reasonable amount of time, she will call me and we could work something out, if I would like to pay less for it than that.

Really nice gal. She does alterations but is trying to pare down her clientele. She said she thought she and her husband were both going to retire, then she cackled. So I'm guessing that he has other ideas. lol I told her to rest assured the machine was going to a good, loving home and would be well taken care of. ;)

And yes, I will have to baby my sweet husband a little bit. He really did find me a gem. :)

Well, I have 11 at the moment... Going up to 12 again when I sell the Toyota and replace it and the busted 910 with a 905 and a Bernina 1100D.

Good. I found the Bernette's a bit too light weight for many of my projects, but they are fine enough if you aren't trying to shove Polartec 300 and Windbloc through them!

Shame it was a mis-print, but I do hope she gets her price for it. Necchi put out some nice machines.

:)

Mine is cooking tomorrow's dinner while I'm taking an away-day in London, meeting nice ladies for lunch! :)

Hmm..... Well I may be stuck at 8 for a while. ;) Not sure my (much smaller than the other house, but that's ok) sewing room might not hold many more. As is, the treadle is in the dining room cleverly disguising itself as a sidebar, and the converted treadle is playing at being an end table in the living room. ;) Can't wait to hear about your new additions when you get them. :)

;) I think I've sewn Windbloc once. And I know I've only sewn 300 once. Went through my White. So I will save those projects for it. ;) Mostly the stuff I do is "normal girly clothes weight." heh heh If I get time today, I will give it a more thorough run. I just got some "comfy summer clothes" fabric from fabric.com. ;)

Oh have fun at your lunch!!! Or rather (figuring the time difference...) I hope you had a marvelous time at lunch!!!! Friends or your sisters? (trying to remember when our mutual pal is going to be over there....isn't that next week?.....the memory is the first to go)
