Another good sewing day - despite the heat!

We're having a heat-wave, and today is predicted to be over 30C/80F. I may have to get the fan out of the loft...

On Wednesday I resized a pattern for one young lady, cut the toile for her bridesmaid dress and sewed it up. I also traced off and altered the pattern for another dress for a wedding guest, and cut and made the toile for that.

Yesterday I printed off, slightly altered and cut the pattern for the foundation layer of a wedding dress. I also cut out the top for another wedding dress and made that up into one piece with narrow sergerd seams. It's embroidered organza. I also started the embellishment, attaching sequins and beads to the embroidery. I got both sleeves and part of the front done. This all has to be done by hand...

Oh, and I cut an inserted the bones in the bridesmaid gown.

Today reads:

Put zip in wedding gown. Fix front hem, do back seam... Attach straps. Gown complete! Finish embellishing top. Sew side seams. Bind bottom edge and back. Cover tiny buttons and sew on buttons and hand worked loops. Top complete.

Cut and make up toile for wedding gown foundation layer.

Today I have the fitting for the wedding guest. Tomorrow the bride with the bridesmaid will be here for fittings in the morning and making favours in the afternoon.

On Sunday the bride with the embellished top will be here for her gown. For her I also need to find an hour to fling together a wrap out of her spare fabric and make her a little dolly bag for bits and pieces. Oh, and a fascinator! :D

Oh, how nice and cool! We are expecting high 90s today. Thanks goodness my sewing workroom is in the nice cool "lower level". ;-)

Got lots and lots done!

More fun stuff! Congratulations on having such varied and interesting projects.

We've had over 100 for the past three days....today was cooler; only the low

90's! My sewing room is above the garage (which is terribly hot), the furthest room from the A/C unit, and gets the afternoon sun. It's like an oven in there. I have my ceiling fan going full speed! I did manage to get some curtains started yesterday. We're expecting our first granddaughter in September, so they are pink & white seersucker, and fully lined. Today all I could manage were a couple quilt blocks for an exchange!

Ours wasn't so bad today, only in the upper 90s, but of course the humidity makes the "feels like" temp over 100 - or so the tv man tells us. Personally, I move from the air-conditioned house to the air-conditioned car and then to the air conditioned destination. So, Kate, it looks like if business keeps on like this Alan will soon be able to quit his day job and stay home to be your manager/executive assistant/ house husband. Is he looking forward to it???????
