Another one done

Finished the red Highland dance vest tonight, and I'll deliver it to DGD tomorrow. If I can get a quick try-on with her Nationals skirt, I'll be able to start on the new Nationals vest. Then on to the new blouse to wear with both outfits, after which I'll get back to sewing for me, for the trip. I'll try to get a picture of the vest and get it on my site.

Nice work Beverly. You sure know how to get things done. We look forward to the pictures. Here we are putting last minute touches on the birthday plans for tomorrow (B-C and M-H- 13+10).

Well, I delivered the vest today, but sadly it was "too big." I *now* know that dance outfits (or at least the vests) are skin tight, they do *not* have normal wearing ease. So she can grow into this one, I'll try to get another red one made before we leave. :-(

Tonight I altered the pattern , cut out the lining for the Nationals vest, and will have Yet Another Damned Fitting(TM) Tuesday.

I came home this afternoon with what should have been a very quick alteration job: DD has one leg shorter than the other, and she had bought some very nice RTW pants for the trip, so I marked the left hem and brought them home. They are the nifty "slinky" travel jersey, and the existing hem is done with a coverstitch, so I removed the hem, marked and pressed the new hem, and fired up the coverstitch. Damn and Blast! It seems to have gremlins: skipped stitches, and pulling off to one side. So I opened it up, cleaned the bejeezus out of it, installed new needles and threaded from scratch. Still a little wonky, so I guess it'll have to go in for servicing.

Beverly, taking a break from sewing, my back hurts ATM
